There is just no denying the Terps now after they won Wednesday at NC State. It was Maryland's fourth top 25 victory, and what makes its 15-11 overall mark easier to understand are those 10 losses to top 50 teams. Now the question becomes will the committee take two sub-.500 teams from the ACC?Virginia (16-10, 6-9; RPI: 47, SOS: 40) What is it about the Cavs and late-season transformations? At least this year Virginia is headed in the right direction. After losing five straight to fall off the at-large radar, the Cavs have won three straight, the last two over NCAA teams. Virginia held off Wake Forest at home Tuesday. The win came on the heels of a victory over UNC. Virginia, which has three top 25 wins, can now finish above both the Terps and FSU with a victory Saturday at Maryland. Like most ACC teams, all 10 losses can be explained and actually came against top 50 teams.Florida State (18-11, 6-9; RPI: 46, SOS: 35) The Seminoles couldn't have liked what they saw Wednesday in Raleigh. And having Virginia make a late case can't help, either. No, the 'Noles didn't need to beat Duke on Sunday night to go dancing as an at-large team. But it would have sure made Selection Sunday, not to mention the ACC tournament, less stressful. The fact remains, eight of FSU's 10 losses have come to top-50 teams. FSU just couldn't add the Blue Devils to their list of wins at home (UNC, Georgia Tech, Maryland and Wake Forest).
