Fatboy Slim's plans to stage a Brighton beach party have been cancelled.

The star, also known as Norman Cook, had hoped to stage the event in July but talks with the local council have broken down.

According to the DJ's spokesman, plans have been shelved over fears public transport will not be able to cope with the volume of people expected:

"We hope that transport infrastructure will be in place soon so that events like this can take place in Brighton in future years."

Norman's Brighton beach party in 2002 ended in chaos when 250,000 revellers turned up, overwhelming the transport system and causing it to grind to a halt.

Despite a ticket-only policy for this year's bash, Sue John of Brighton and Hove City Council said they didn't want to risk a repeat of 2002:

"The event that happened two years ago took us by surprise. Although it was fantastic in some ways it had every danger of turning into a catastrophe."

"We cannot take the risk of that happening again."

Norman Cook...

My biggest influence when it comes to spinning and producing.

From the late '80s- The House Martins to Now, this guy is incredibly talented and always fun.

Can we please get him down here in Miami?

It's been years since I've seen him in Orlando and Toronto.

Is his style not apealing to Miami?

SS

I forgot to add also, that event Live From Brighton Beach is on DVD - highly recomended!:D
