you should be erect, with your shoulderblades together and your chest out...

you hurt yourself mostlikely because you relaxed...

You should be arched upwards, with shoulder blades pulled back, and looking up at the ceiling at all times, with knees SLIGHTLY bent........even if its a 'stiff-legged'.........your back should have a very nice arch to it.....upwards ofcourse, not downwards, that's what leads to injury.
