clubbingirl
Okay, so I'm 22 and I was never really exposed to politics (i know, its sad). I always just skimmed the political titles in the newspaper, and just rushed to the financial sections. But anwaaay, I am very eager to read up and get the details of this election before i vote for the first time. But I have a couple of questions. Please bear w/me...i know my questions may seem elementary...but hey, at least i wanna learn. 1)What are the main difference between a democrat & republican? left/right/conservative/liberal/etc..?2)Also, are there any good sites to compare the 2 candidates? (I've just started going thru their official websites.)Thanks.
kramadas
Anyone care to help her? I don't know much about formal definitions...but republicans are normally more conservative with policies, while democrats are more liberal. I know thats not much help, but I don't know how to explain it better. I'm sure the others here could go into much more in-depth definitions of what each party supports, etc. And from personal experience I feel republicans are more the "shoot first ask questions later" kind, while democrats are more "lets make sure who we're shooting first" type . clubbingirl
Haha, thanx for the response! but i too know the general definitions. Basically, I am a little confused as to what I am? A dem. or rep? I know where I stand on certain issues, but I don't know if my stance is in line w/ only a certain candidate, or a certain party etc.

trigger55
Basically, I am a little confused as to what I am? A dem. or rep? On some issues you'll think like a dem while on other issues you'll think republican. So whichever one you think in terms of more, that's what you should consider yourself.
