Marky’s status as a DJ grew rapidly, thanks to his extraordinary mixing skills and the sheer energy of his sets. XRS built his own studio, and started producing, quickly moving from house to the faster rhythms of hardcore before experimenting with drum and bass, some of his tracks being championed by local DJs Patife and Marky. Some of the Sao Paulo produced drum and bass he brought didn’t escape Bryan Gee’s ear, and in 2001 he picked up 4 tracks to compile ‘The Brazil EP’ for V. Shortly after, Movement released ‘The Brazilian Job’. This compilation of drum and bass tracks that rocked the club was mixed by Marky. ‘In Rotation’ will be released early 2004. More than an accomplished drum and bass album, this release reflects on the very unique and successful way Marky and XRS, brought together and propelled into a worldwide limelight by their love of dance music, have managed to keep a strong cultural identity that refers to Brasil’s rich and timeless musical heritage.Along w/ILLEFFECT [ Syndrome | EXBC | Destroyer.net ] - DCCutting and scratching his way into countless venues across the eastcoast, DJ IllEffect effectively draws from a hiphop-influenced background all while remaining true to DNB culture. yvonnison
After the rigours of a long, (not very) hot summer we can now release the finer details of the huge lineup of 12"s forthcoming on Innerground. In a change to the planned release schedule, The Dia De Sol Summer Pack will now be divided in to Part One and Part Two. Part One will be: A/ DJ Marky & XRS - Soul Samba AA/ DJ Marky & XRS - Breeze (DJ Marky VIP) Currently doing the rounds on the club circuit, this will be the first appearance on vinyl from the Innerground head honchos since the release of their debut album in March. This will hit the shelves on October 11th 2004. Part Two will be in close pursuit, and will feature two mixes of Dia De Sol, one of the finer moments of the In Rotation LP, and featuring the vocal talents of Brazilian Minister for Culture Gilberto Gil. The A side will be the original mix of the track with a remix on the flip by none other than Tom Findlay, one half of Groove Armada!! A/ DJ Marky & XRS - Dia De Sol feat. Gilberto Gil AA/ DJ Marky & XRS - Dia De Sol feat. Gilberto Gil (Tom "Groove Armada" Findlay remix) Next up will be a 12" from the unstoppable force in drum & bass that is Calibre. With everybody from Bukem to Ray Keith hammering these two tracks, Calibre fans have been screaming for a release, and with a timely release in late October, this will make a lot of people very happy! A/ Calibre - Bluetop AA/ Calibre - Gemini Calibre will be handing the baton over to Logistics, one of the infamous Cambridge collective, who has two awesome tracks ready to blow up - A/ Logistics - Millionaire AA/ Logistics - Front To Back Following that will be a 12" from Digital. This one has something for everyone, with an A side that sounds like a mid-90s Metalheadz anthem beefed up 21st Century style and a soulful B side, this one has ANTHEM written all over it! A/ Digital - Termite AA/ Digital - Ready Or Not Next up will be a cut from Oxford's finest, Total Science. Two big, big tunes here, both capable of doing some serious dancefloor damage! A/ Total Science - Wasting Time AA/ Total Science - Expand http://www.innergroundmusic.com
