jtk4
I only vented twice, I think. Second guessing and contemplating what moves we should make in the offseason is something I love to talk about. To be completely honest with you I'm not even watching the WS. Not out of spite or anything, I just no particular interest in either teams. Maybe I'll tune i when either team gets to 3 wins. I want to see one of them celebrate. It'd be interesting to see Boston finally win it and what their reaction will be like.yeah i am sure we will be able to rebuild the city after it burns

jtk4
*They owe Giambi 82 million through 2009 *Mussina is making 19 million per year for two more years*They owe A-Fraud 158 million over the next 6 years*MFY fans would argue that it's worth it but 126 million is a lot to pay Jeter for the next 6 years*Mr. Walking Disaster gets 13 million per for the next two years with his injuries and attitude *Vasquez gets 35 million over the next three years *Bernie makes 12 million next year with a 3.5 buyout in 2006*Kevin Brown makes 15 million next year*Heredia makes 2 million*Karsay 7.5 million*Lofton 3.1 million*Posada will make 30 million over the next 3 yearsWithout making a move their payroll is at $176.55 for 2005. Let's assume that they get Beltran and Pavano, which would add at least 30 million to their 2005 payroll bringing it to $206.55They still need a second baseman since Cairo is not signed. They still need a lefty in the pen and a stud lefty will not be cheap. They won't settle for a Heredia type player next year. They still need a first baseman in case Giambi regresses again. They need a backup catcher. And they need a 5th pitcher.Their 60 million dollar rotation would be:Mussina (19 mil)Pavano (15 mil)Vasquez (10.5 mil)Brown (15 mil)??? (??? mil)As we learned at the trading deadline, they have no talent at the farm to trade for Randy Johnson. They are still paying Clemens and Contreras. My point is that it will not be easy for SiaS to buy a championship in 2005. They are going over 200 million in payroll and they are making poor choices with their money. kfitz73
1) We're not getting Pavano. Supposedly he doesn't want to come here.2) Pavano isn't getting anywhere near 15million. How do you figure that?3) Lieber will pitch for us next year4) Brown will not5) How are we still paying Clemens?6) Flaherty is a perfectly fine back up catcher.7) I'd rather pay the arod and sheff contracts than the manny one.8) Giambi is signed through 2008 not

jtk4
i love it mostly when it is not my money.I think pavano as "the" young right hander will get around 15 a year, especially if there is a bidding war for him. arod deffered his money, he is not getting it now but he will. I think giamnbi has deffered money also that is why the contract was for 7 years 2001-2007 but he will get a check in 2008. It is so the annual money is not as high.the number that jumps out at me is karsey getting 7.5. holy shit that is alot.I would post the link but it is from another message board and cp is a nazi run baord. I will try later.
kfitz73
I definitely don't see Pavano getting 15 mil a year. He's gonna be 29 in January so he's not that young. Also this is his first real good year of his career. Lowe has had more good seasons than Pavano and he won't even make the 9 million he turned down. I see Pavano making between 8-10 million. Pedro might not make 15 million so ther's no shot in hell of Pavano getting it..
bxbomb
i agree w kfitzi think the owners are gonna make sure , the salary windfall of 3-4 yrs ago doesnt happen againthe jeter /manny type contracts were so overblown when they happened it was just a domino effect for those few yrs ...I think it has stabilized somewhat as clubs arent so quick to offer extensions etc. even to their own proven starspavano should not be getting 15 a yrbut hten again it takes one renegade owner to go ahead and give an Arod type contract and theri goes the whole theory
jtk4
if georgie gets into a bidding war with anyone he will get that money. He should not get that money, but never underestimate the stupidity of owners. Just like someone will over pay for pedro, probably around 20 million or so.
kfitz73
Pavano has already said he doesn't want to play in NY. (Yanks or Mets) Actually there is a good shot he'll be in Boston.

bxbomb
pavano did originally say that but quickly changed his mind about Newyork and said he would come here after his agent changed his mind for him.you WANT new york teams involved when your a free agent HELLLLOOOOOO EARTH TO PAVANO
bxbomb
We need left handed pitchers ASAP.i think Eric milton will get an offer to be back in pinstripes and Leiter will get a call as he seems to have worn out his welcome in flushing and they are looking to get rid of all the "old guard" on that team LEiter/franco/piazza etc.

italia23
Pavano has already said he doesn't want to play in NY. (Yanks or Mets) Actually there is a good shot he'll be in Boston.I don't know if Pavano just had a career year this season. Milton is much more legitimate and a safer investment IMO, but will cost more. And plus, I think Pavano is from New England. I see Milton in New York and Pavano in Boston. And there's no question Beltran will be in pinstripes.
