intoxikated
Do you think that NA or AA work?? I know a few ppl in AA and they still haven't kicked their addictions...maybe its bc they HAVE to go to meetings as opposed to wanting to..its sad, but it seems to me that the only thing its good for is making connections.. intoxikated
I like how its unconventional and tells the truth about going to recovery groups/shrinks...how you have to want to do it on your own...they seem to have a much better philosophy than AA...do you know anyone who's tried this? rollrgrll222
I was in NA for a long time..it works for awhile..then the meetings get boring...people are crazy....drama and gossip....who's fucking who...i hate it
intoxikated
no more drama...seriously, I hate how ppl fuck everything up, though...I know what you mean, I can't stand phony ppl and having to watch what you say to who, etc..

NOT IN USE
the higher power one i hate the most...and the guy has a point,....the courts do promote NA with no proof that they work..and they force u in environment around alot of users or former users..which is harmful
intoxikated
Definitely....that's why a lot of ppl in NA and AA relapse...they don't really have a support system bc a lot of the ppl were forced there and relapse right away...at least, that's what I've seen.. NOT IN USE
inever heard of this rational recovery thing..but i like its ideas....i wonder what the rest of the board will think
funeralhome
there's different options for successful recovery.. the highest percentage recovery rate for addicts is usually the traditional NA/AA approach.i do like the non traditional approaches.. i considered going to some when i read their methods online (i never got around to it, that's another story) anyway.. research has documented much lower percentages for all the other stuff like "multiple paths" "Women for sobriety".. "smart recovery" etc.what's their success rate?
NOT IN USE
dunno..i dont think you could ever give a success rate for any rehab...u would have to base it on 1 yr 5 yr, 10 yr...and also control who comes in..with NA so many people come in once and never again..is that considered a failure...with manipulating statistics..anythign could have a high success rate
funeralhome
it's been done..they monitor and interview people that have been in treatment programs who are clean and sober for a substantial amount of years.. 5 or more.. i was just wondering if it's worked for people..
