slim4life
Mexican stamp called offensive to blackshttp://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/americas/06/29/mexico.stamp.ap/index.htmlMEXICO CITY, Mexico (AP) -- The Mexican government has issued a postage stamp depicting an exaggerated black cartoon character known as Memin Pinguin, just weeks after remarks by President Vicente Fox angered U.S. blacks. The series of five stamps released for general use Wednesday depicts a child character from a comic book started in the 1940s that is still published in Mexico. The boy, hapless but lovable, is drawn with exaggerated features, thick lips and wide-open eyes. His appearance, speech and mannerisms are the subject of kidding by white characters in the comic book.Activists said the stamp was offensive, though officials denied it. slim4life
interesting....exact same thread was posted on rhythmism (except its now a 5 page drama thread) I posted this goofy bastard on 2 sites b/c I thought it was so funny I wanted everyone 2 share in my laughter.Rhythmism turned into a debate about PCnesss...... it had drama, but at least they were talking about the origional post-all 142 replies(all w/in 24 hours). Most of those threads get off topic after like 10 replies. Why did CP only have 7 replies....... was no one offended or humored? You all should take another look at the big lips on the cartoon....you can't make this shit up.
