A firefighter tries to put out a burning car on Sunday in Aulnay-sous-Bois, a northern surburb of Paris, on the tenth straight night of unrest following the electrocution deaths of two teens who believed they were being chased by police.

PARIS, France - The urban unrest that triggered scores of arson attacks on vehicles, nursery schools and other targets across France reached the capital early Sunday, with police reporting that 11 cars were burned.

By 1 a.m., at least 546 vehicles were burned — including those in Paris, said Patrick Hamon, spokesman for the national police. The overall figures were expected to climb by daybreak, he added.

I had heard of crepes burning in France...

Crpsuz.jpg

It was over a hundred years ago, the place was the Cafe de Paris in MonteCarlo, and the dish was a mistake made by a fifteen year-old, who waspreparing a dessert for Edward, the Prince of Wales.

However, the Prince gallantly suggested there was a ladypresent, the young daughter of one of the men at his table. Her namewas Suzette. Whynot call the dish Crepes-Suzette?

These french motherfuckers don't fuck around, on July 14th, between eight and nine hundred Parisians, mostly women, gathered in front of that medieval fortress, the Bastille. They were looking for weapons and gunpowder. They stormed the prison – 98 were killed and 73 wounded. Although the Bastille contained no hoped-for weapons, the FALL OF THE BASTILLE served, and has always served, as a great symbol of the Revolution itself. To many, it seemed there was now no turning back.

Fucked up, hu? :blank:

PARIS - Ignoring the government’s threat of a curfew, youths rioted for the 12th night in France, torching more than 800 vehicles around the country and injuring four police, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

The nightly protests against racism and unemployment dropped markedly in the greater Paris region, where violence had escalated to the point of shooting at police, but continued unabated in other parts of France, a ministry statement showed.
