southbound24
I can not believe all the complaints about the line-ups, 1st let me say that I am definitly more of a "trance addict' when it comes to this genre, but with that being said i love what I still refer to as house, and all of you call EDM. The Ulra lineup is lacking a little trance I do admit, but the line up is Amazing. Prodigy can fill up a 50,000 person venue in many countries by themselves. Morillo, Cox, and Teneglia never fail to put on great sets, especially at outdoor festival settings. Benny Benassi is a hit machine and can fill clubs in Europe on any night. Pete Tong is Essential Mix, enough said! Van Helden is one of the Godfathers of our genre still turning out hit after hit from the 90,s until now. Picooto in Ibiza is abot 40 euros to go see and ope of the worlds top DJs. Last year i got to Ultra early and discovered Infected Mushroom who put up the most spirited set I had seen all day and I also really enjoyed Junkiexl who I had never heard of before then.. Oakie is a legend no matter what anyone thinks, and PVD is #1. Im glad the talent pool is split this year, Iml looking foward to seeing AVB, who I consider the top trance dj in the world,at global. S&D always seem to be toping their last performance and Deep Dish continues to put out great mixes. Nine Inch Nails as a headliner, what can you say but wow. Its about time a great gathering of music rock/EDM was put together here in the USA. I know alot of you hate JP, but I never saw him outdoors. As an old timer I look foward to these outdoor fests because I cant stand going to the big shows (Tiesto, AVB etc.) at Crobar Ny because its too packed and I cant enjoy it. Ultyra messed up with the sound at Central Park, and the Morillo/Teneglia tent should have had more ventilation, but the music and crowd was great. Ultra Miami and Ny seemed to have fair prices on beer and food, much cheaper than sporting events. I wish Ultra was a little more organized at times, but lets give them credit for booking top acts GG welcome to the scene here in the states and God bless capitalism because it just means a better product for us all. Im glad they picked up a major sponsor like Bacardi, that should help cement them to the WMC scene. Saturday to Saturday in Miami, for an old (29 years old) Brooklynites bones, exactly what i need. Everyone was also complaining about Radio 1 bowing out, well Im glad Wetgrooves stepped up to the plate and I will make sure I go and support them. Instead of complaining lets complement 2 companies for putting 2 great lineups together. lets face it, the EDM scene is not a big factor here in the states, still carrying aroound the stigma of being a "druggie" culture, so when major sponsors like bacardi for GG, and XM for Ultra come into the scene we have to thank those events for their hard work. The prices of the tickets have been ket very reasonable for ssuch staccked events.
