You have got to be fucking kidding me! You can't even find an apartment in the MARCY PROJECTS for that price!

They are around. You just have to keep your eyes open and have the cash in hand to get it then and there.

i'm hoping to find a really cheap place in the $750 to $1000 range-- probably just a 1 BR apt for my gfriend and i. a second bedroom would be nice to be used for an office/studio, but this type of price range i'm thinking is in the 1 BR range... or am i wrong? BTW, can you even find an apt in NYC cheaper than $750?

forget about 2 bedrooms. one bedrooms between $750 & $1000 are around. go here: http://newyork.craigslist.org/about/apts.html

unless you are willing to live far uptown, you can forget about manhattan.

fyi, if you look in astoria, avoid the acropolis gardens. :shake:

in brooklyn there is a lot of lying about where neighborhoods begin and end. be very careful about apartments being labelled as in prospect heights, williamsburg, park slope, and clinton hill.

apartments do exist in NYC for under $750, but they will either be in the worst areas and/or be really tiny studios. dont bother.

what does TyPiNg LyKe Dis MeAn?

what i've found, after using msg boards more lately to do some moving research (haven't used them much in the past), is that there are 2 basic types of posters:

1. the "informer," who tries to answer questions, give info, and be useful

2. the "commentator," who replies to what the "informer" has posted and gives him/her shit, and who usually has like 20,000+ posts and sits at his/her (usually his) computer in his briefs all day and never leaves the house

to me, the "informer's" posts are a LOT more helpful. but then again, the "commentator's" replies crack me up (or piss me off)....... lol
