JONATHAN PETERS This friday in AVALON!!!

NYC, USA

Biography

Jonathan Peters is one talent whose star is definitely on the rise. A major attraction in New York City clubs over the past decade, Peters has been at ground zero in the underground music scene, and at the forefront of innovations in house music.

Since the beginning his career as the Friday/Saturday DJ at the ?80s hotspot Caf? Iguana, Peters has become known for his hard hitting, body-rocking beats.

Le Bar Bat, Caf? Society, Roxy, Limelight, Palladium, Mirage, Club USA, Nell?s, Tavern on the Green, Club 10, El Flamingo, Expo, (Save the) Robots, aboard the USS Intrepid, and currently serves as the premier DJ at NYC?s Sound Factory.

This experience has allowed Jonathan to hone his street sensibility, committing himself to being the front-runner for discovering and breaking progressive styles of dance/pop music.

This prompted Peters to begin creating loftier goals for himself. One objective in particular was reached in 1995 with the formation of his own label, Deeper Rekords NYC.

Committed to leading the pack in breaking the freshest progressive-style house, it was only natural that Peters concurrently tuned his prodigious energies to the recording studio. It wasn?t long before the music industry sat up and recognized the talent emanating from this native New Yorker. Inspired by the success of The Fugees remake of "Killing Me Softly", Peters? remix of Roberta Flack?s original for Atlantic Records earned him his first #1 Billboard hit, repeated shortly thereafter with the galvanizing remix of Chaka Khan?s "Never Miss The Water" for Warner/Reprise.

And his chart-topping productions haven?t stopped since. Most recently Peters' reinterpretations have garnered #1 positions with Whitney Houston?s "My Love Is Your Love" for Arista Records and with Donna Summer?s "Love Is The Healer" for Epic. Peters? magical touch was soon sought after by such renowned artists such as Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Montell Jordan, Garth Brooks, Amber, Paula Cole, and more.

Regardless of whether he?s working with his own productions or with others, the challenges and rewards of working with artists to bring pop/dance music to an ever more energizing, life-affirming level figures prominently in Peters? plans for the future. And he admits to nurturing the hope of one day discovering and guiding a brand-new superstar of pop. Jonathan Peters has the unique ability to tap into today?s sound, give it his own special twist, and leave you with nothing but pure aural ecstasy. Behind the turntables or behind the mixing board, Jonathan Peters is the new force in dance music to be reckoned with.
