weyes Posted June 29 Report Share Posted June 29 my insurance was up for renewal and i figured i might as well shop around. i called geico and they gave me a better quote, and when i said i wanted to sign up, they then said, "ooo, it turns out you're NOT eligible for the discount we thought you could get," and they raised the quote. then they added this and that, and by the time we got off the phone, i was to be paying more than my old insurance. when i got my new policy in the mail, there were a bunch of things missing that i was sure i had requested. when i called to say that they weren't there, they added on more $$$. the geico policy ended up being about $70 more than my old company's. sneaky mo'fo's .i called up my old broker (mercury) and, for the same policy, they got me a rate that was $30 cheaper than my original rate with them. when i called geico to cancel, they tried everything - including insulting my driving record - to try to keep me from cancelling, EXCEPT bringing the price down .anyway, i pay $126/month. i have a '97 civic and live in the o.c. what about you guys?
