someclown Posted September 25 Report Share Posted September 25 First off, I'd like to say that I'm proud of the way Siverbull handled that very mean-spirited, basically ignorant comment. Second, although Paradise Garage was before my clubbing time, one of my friends (he's in his late 40's) used to be a DJ in a club in Palasades Park, NJ. He and his DJ buddies would go to P.G. about once a month to learn what Larry was playing, and how he managed his sets and try to copy that for their sets in some of the small NJ clubs. He said it was about 90%+ black gay guys there, all getting down with each other and from that standpoint he didn't love it, but listening to Larry Levan, who at the time was at the forefront of progressive music, made Paradise Garage an essential stop for every aspiring DJ.
