BI-MONTHLY SATURDAY NIGHT

RESIDENCY FOR DANNY HOWELLS AT

TWILO

Nu-Breeder Danny Howells is to become a

new recideny at the New York club Twilo.

The message comes really strange at a time

when there are doubts about the venue's

future. Rumour is that the club is due to be

sold to the the guys at Home. The New York

Times recently announced the death of a

21- year-old Twilo clubber, James Wiest,

who reportedly lost consciousness inside the

club and died later in hospital. The death

comes at a time when Twilo is still fighting a

two-year-old lawsuit brought by the Police

Department's Civil Enforcement Division

relating to a previous drug casualty

allegedly connected to the club. Twilo said

theyhad been making concerted efforts to

eliminate drug dealing from the venue.

Danny Howells is due to join Junior Vasquez

for a bi-monthly Saturday night residency.

Vasquez seems to have mellowed in his old

age, having once been notoriously

possessive of his DJ booth. He has had DJs -

Tenaglia in the most scandalous incident -

kicked out of his clubs who were just there to

listen: actually sharing a night's billing is

something of a first. A Twilo spokeman said:

"Danny Howells is definitely one of the most

exciting DJs in the world at the moment.

We've been watching him for a while now

and I believe the time is right for Danny to

make his mark in New York. He's one of only

a handful of DJs that could possibly work

with Junior." Danny has recently launched

his monthly Nocturnal Frequencies clubnight

at Ministry Of Sound while his Global

Underground Nubreed mix album is out on

Boxed at the 28th of August.

NEWS, Last Friday Cops busted 78 revelers

and workers at some of the city's hottest

nightclubs in a series of undercover raids

aimed at the widespread sale of Ecstasy,

police said. A small army of NYPD officers

and drug-sniffing dogs swooped down at 11

nightspots, including the trouble-plagued

Tunnel, late Friday night and early

yesterday after club patrons and employees

sold drugs to undercover narcotics cops,

officials said. Among the clubs raided were:

the Social Club, 302 E. 2nd St.; the Roxy,

515 W. 18th St.; Twilo, 530 W. 27th St.;

Cheetah, 12 W. 21st St.; Ohm, 16 W. 22nd

St.; Speed, 20 W. 39th St.; Exit, 610 W. 56th

St.; and the Sound Factory, 618 W. 46th St.

The operation's largest seizure was at Vinyl,

at 6 Hubert St., where seven patrons and two

employees were arrested and over $13,000

cash and several hundred pills of Ecstasy

were seized.Hope that Danny is able to chill the city of NY a bit....

DANNY Howells is undoubtedly one of the United Kingdom's scene's brightest stars. An apprenticeship

of nine years served by playing with the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Whitehead has finally propelled

him into the upper echelons of deejaydom. A position at No. 16 in DJ Mag's top 100 DJ poll has

signaled his arrival on the world stage.

Danny's refreshingly original style of sexy, deep and funky futuristic tech/tribal/progressive house,

combined with his silky smooth mixing abilities, has taken him all over the world as well as

establishing him with residencies at some of the UK's best clubs. He is currently a stalwart at

Renaissance, The Ministry of Sound and Bedrock. Danny has aired his talents on numerous mix

albums in the UK, Holland and the United States. He is currently putting the finishing touches to

"Nocturnal Frequencies II," his own critically acclaimed mix series, which has carved a niche for

Danny's forward thinking and intelligent selections.

There is also an album in the pipeline for Israel as well as a "Nu Breed" mix for Global Underground.

Things are heating up in the studio where Danny and his compadre, Dick Trevor, are forging some

serious tunes under the banner of "Science Department." The first offering, "Repercussion/Persuasion,"

was the tune of the month in Ministry, Mixmag and seven magazines, and has paved the way for some

even bigger projects in the pipeline. Their next track, "Breathe," is currently being courted by several

of the world's coolest labels. Danny has also been busy on remix duties for BT (Pioneer), David

Morales (Azuli) and Coco & Stonebridge (R&S).

This year can only get better for Danny as he becomes recognized as a true star and breathes a blast

of fresh air into an otherwise stagnating pool of club icons.

Its not like they're going to be sharing the same booth. Danny will simply play downstairs from 12-5 and Jr will take over from his booth upstairs from then on.

I think it's a great marketing scheme to get clubbers in early on Saturday nights. It's usually ghost town before Junior gets on.

Howells is one of my favorite djs of the moment. He played Twilo twice in the past and rocked it both times. His nubreed is out in a few days and I highly recommend it for those that like the dark, tribal, progressive sound.

Danny is about to blow up on the global scale. Enough of being under the shadow of Diggers.
