weyes
i've been looking for a particular track (quentin harris' remix of chaka khan & mary j. blige's "disrespectful") on cd and haven't been able to find it. i've found it online on 12" and on some people's downloadable online mixes, though, and yesterday i downloaded someone's mix and checked it out. here's my beef: he overlapped the first and last thirds of the song w/ other songs in different, dissonant keys. don't all djs know that that's not ok? ??? it sounds like a toddler banging on a piano. there's more to mixing than matching beats. i'm dumbfounded by this...wtf??? deepfunk2
some dj's aren't musical enough to hear and/or understand key. some don't care. it annoys me too weyes, and i try my best to avoid this as well as competing basslines when i dj.
weyes
thanks, deepfunk . no one gets far without knowing this, as evidenced by the fact that no one big makes this mistake. the guy who did this online mix either won't get far or will learn, i guess .when do i get to see and hear you spin ?
