weyes Posted December 10 Report Share Posted December 10 saying, "hi, it's me," when the person one calls picks up the phone doesn't clear anything up . if one really just uses that statement to say three words, giving the receiver more of a chance (as opposed to just a one-word greeting like "hi") to figure out who called, one might as well say, "hi, what's up?" after all, what's a proper response to "hi, it's me," anyway?
