Your Favorite Restaurant....

Saleen you want to discuss food with me, bring it on ! I assure you, like most everything you post, I know a lot more. And by food I'm not refering to the crap you more than likely eat.

dude, i'm 100% Italian with 3 grandparents from the old country. trust me you don't know food. On top of that, Anthonys is the best in florida. I can't cook mac and cheese, but I know good italian food ;)

btw, you are such a loser buddy, you know more?? ok, you win a lollipop...

LOL ! you mean the NY Italinas that pronounce Mozarella "Mozarell" in the attempt to sound Italian because their ancestry is from "the old country" ! too funny. I've spent extensive time in Italy. My friends in Forti dei Marmi are restauranteurs and deeply involved in the Gem stone and Jewelry business. After graduating from Cordon Bleu in Paris (where not only did I study Culinary but did my internship at both a one and two star Guide Michelin restaurants... of course this means nothing to you because you wouldn't even know what the Guide Michelin is or it's method of rating). Then I spent time in Italy with my friends whose family don't only have incredible Trattorias that make even their own cheese but whom also are oneleogists and know extensively about both. I've also spent time traveling and trying the different wines of spain and have spent time in the culinary clubs of San Sebastian in the Basque country (ask any Spaniard abut the culinary clubs of San Sebastian and see what they tell you). Plus here, besides my 9 to 5, I also work for one of the most prestigeous catering companies in town whose chef has woked for the King and Queen of Spain and was personal chef to the Agha Khan. On top of that I know my table etiquette, formal and informal and I've had small training in Oneology and cheese courses. Your Italian family background (Eurotrash) makes me laugh !

i don't have time to read this nor care to, so go make me a grill cheese sandwich.. thanks

will have to try it but i doubt it will be anything to rave about. The best restaurant I've been in the US was Christopher's in Phoenix (I understand it's part of chain but everything was exceptionally well done) five courses expertly paired with wine, using a combination of American, French and Portugese wine. Best restaurant I've been to in the world was Robouchon and Taillevent in Paris. Runners up, Duquesnoy and Pre Catalan in Paris and Aubergine in London.

to Saleen: I would love to try this restaurant just verify your poor taste. By the way express yourself, it is evident you lack taste.

You and your EuroTrash appetite need to back off. Any food must be an improvement compared to your warm beer and lousy food provided by the India East Trading company and that Pig you call "The Queen".

First - Runway 84 has the best Italian "family style" food in South Florida. Anytime you want to go, lets do it. But - MY WAY. We both make a reservation for 8P any night of the week. Then when you are still at the bar waiting to be seated - after we have finished our meal - I'll give you my doggie bag. This is not the kind of place you can just call and get in – especially if you are EuroTrash. Even the Italian Saleen knows that he can't get in there without the help.

Now - my restaurant pics:

Dade (in no particular order)

Rumi, Chef Allen's, Blue Door, Touch

Broward (in no particular order)

Eduardo de San Angel, Runway 84, Cafe Martorano, Mark's Las Olas, Himmarshee

I've had real family style Italian, IN ITALY ! I probably should try this restaurant maybe I'll like it but so far every restaurant that people have raved about I haven't found Special. PS Mark's las Olas was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The veal was overcooked, the wine in the sauce wasn't properly reduced and the service was mediocre at best. Italian food is excellent, real Italian that is. My friends' Trattorias in Tuscany are real Italian food. How can you eat "family Italian" and the call me Eurotrash ? too funny, where's Italy located ?

Italy is located on the Mederterainian Sea - Thus – a Mederterainian nation and they have a pass to be exempt as a EuroTrash nation.

I’ve also had a couple of bad meals at Marks Las Olas. But overall 10 years, 2 bad meals can be overlooked. FYI – Never a bad meal at Runway!

Honestly, I don't care about anybody's geneology or pedigree. I like what I like. Just because you know more about something doesn't mean that you know what other people like. I do like to get recommendations for new places because it is fun to try new stuff, and if somebody I know has actually been there before and can say that it is a good place to go, then that increases the chances that it won't actually suck.

Damn, why do all these threads degenerate into "I know more than you so fuck off!!" Pod, remind me again how this board is better than CP???

Anyway, it's so hard to pick one favorite restaurant anywhere, even in South Florida. But Norah is correct, Casa Tua is amazing. I love sitting outside, though I suspect it will be unbearable in the summertime. But my tastes range so far and wide I'm just as happy going to Pollo Tropical as I am going to Nobu or Ago. Just depends on what mood I'm in and what's in my wallet. ;D

I agree with you 100% and normally I don't even talk about my background. I cook for my friends for the love of the food and sharing. However, when someone says that only they know it all and nobody else has a clue, especially about food, bring it on !!! Food, much like wine, is very subjective. You should eat what you like and what tastes good to you. All those thing I posted I haven't even told my friends but when someone claims superiority like Saleen, I will put up my resume next to his and see who can give a better educated opinion.

guyman1966:

France is also located on the Mediterranean, so I suppose the people of Provence and Camargue are not Eurotrash. Also most of the Spaniard coast (including the island of Ibiza) is on the mediterranean, So Spaniards are also not Eurotrash. So what would you qualify the side of Italy that touches the Adriatic ? in fact the part of Italy that touches the Mediterranean is only the southernmost tip, around Sicily (and the island of Sardinia). Also morocco, Algeria and Tunisia touch the Mediterranean so they must fall under the same category as sicilians, as per your assumption that the Mediterranean is what matters, not the continet where the country is located ::)
