Guest JMT
do you like any obscure band or dj (past or present) where you feel like you are the only person that you know of who likes them?
Guest JMT
band: For Squirrels - saw them open for someone once at The Edge in ft laudy. a gainesville band, they released one vastly underrated album in the mid 90's called "Example" which to this day i still listen to. not long after signing with a record label 3 band members were killed in a car crash. i think they would have been huge.dj:willie mix - a north florida star when i was in school, rocked the afterhours clubs for all the kids. "without you" being his claim to (relative) fame production.
Guest tres-b
I heard For Squirrels many times during my UF years.Band: Black Creek(Tallahasee)-Great southern rock sound. Lead guitarist went on work with Sister Hazel(G'ville band)DJ/Producer- Brett Long(not obscure but more underappreciated talent here in Atlanta)Brett is one of the most talented djs around. Unfortunately, good house/progressive house music is rarely played in straight clubs here so Bret usually spins gay parties. However, he is a really good guy who can rock a monster room or play a smaller intimate venue and still do it right. He used to crush it downstairs at Backstreet(the last 24hr club in Atlanta, beyond crazy and if you have been there you know) during primetime on Saturday night/Sunday(3am-9am). Miss hearing him week in and week out.Of note:Ian James-talented Atlanta dj, more progressive Digweed style sound, again underappreciated here in Atlanta

Guest Diabolique
The Cult. Turns out one of my Rabbit In The Moon fan/friends is the Cult's #1 fan, so not only do I have someone to geek out to this with, but got to meet the singer when he toured with the Doors, due to my friends' fan status. Cool huh? 8)

Guest PORNSTAR
Well i am going to correct myself here is what i found about the band"On the afternoon of September 8, 1995, the members of Sony 550 recording group For Squirrels and their tour manager were en route home to Florida following a showcase performance the previous night at C.B.G.B. in New York. Their van was traveling on Inter-state 95, approximately 50 miles south of Savannah, Georgia, when a tire blew out and the vehicle overturned. "prolonging the magic" is an awesome album. saw them live once in pompano.

Guest JMT
obscure band ---> White Stripes and NINcmon norah, i know you can do better than that. those bands arent very obscure.
Guest web_norah
obscurer...White Stripes for me, recently.....earlier years, probably i'd say Ozzy, but everyone liked him. i never quite got into metal or dark things anyway. Trent Reznor is pretty dark for me.
Guest The_Man
obscure band ---> White Stripes and NINcmon norah, i know you can do better than that. those bands arent very obscure...and neither are the Cult and Cake. :You got me on this thread, dude. I woulda said Keoki and Third Eye Blind (don't think many like them) but they are not obscure.
Guest web_norah
the Cult wasnt darki'll give you examples of dark and obscure for me:Marilyn MansonPanteraDanzigi'd never liked more than a minute of either one of these...but my preference in darker stuff ...is White Stripes and NIN. Guest The_Man
Danzig is a great choice for obscure. Don't know about the other two though. I think JMT wants the name of little known bands when he says obscure rather than what their sound was like.
Guest JMT
right. people might as well be saying Guns and Roses for that matter. all of those bands have significant national followings.
Guest web_norah
lolGuns and Roses....yeah it was dark when they had the coffin and the wifey portraying her own death in the music video.....lolKings of Leon used to be obscure but not anymore. but their music is pure rock and roll, nothing like Danzig or Pantera, death metal scary.
