Guest Marina22
???What's up fellow junkies, I am a newbie as you can see and I figured I'd try asking a question for my virgin post. I usually go with no earplugs but when I have gotten some they suck. Where can I get good earplugs that don't fall out that easily. I love the music but I'd rather not go deaf eventually! Anyway, I am going to brave the crowd for Paul and Max tonight see you on the dancefloor!

Guest swirlundergrounder
this might be a weird question but y do people use ear plugs? I love the music the louder the betterLoud music is great but once you expose yourself to high dB SPL's (Decibel Sound Pressure Levels) you can cause permanent hearing damage. Some of those club systems output almost 120dB SPL's which is also known as the 'Threshold Of Pain'. Do you really want to expose your ears to that level of sound, unprotected for a long period of time? Little by little when you expose yourself to these levels (especially at clubs) you lose a little bit of your hearing everytime you go. You may not notice it. A way to really monitor your hearing loss is to monitor your TV volume. You'll see over time that you will have to turn your TV volume higher and higher to compinsate for that hearing loss. If your a DJ especially you need to protect you hearing when you can. When you're in a DJ booth mixing on a lound club system, trying to hear your monitors over a loud system, you're doing a lot of damage to your ears. You will find that a lot of DJs 9the smart ones that is) will wear earplugs when they are at the clubjust hanging out..As a musician and music lover, protecting your hearing is paramount.
