There is something I have to say about Space this week. I know I should probably keep my mouth shut but that's just not something I'm good at.

I saw something go down that anyone would have been shocked to witness, and it shook me for the next hour. There was a big guy getting thrown out. Two bouncers had him under control and he was backing off the patio with his hands up, cooperating.

For no apparent reason one of the security (who I have seen use violence unneccesarily before) slams this guy down to the ground. The guy fell backward like a log and busted his head open on the concrete. Evidently he didn't have the awareness to break his fall. There was blood all over the place.

I suspect he had a concussion, as he laid on the ground motionless for a good 5 minutes. Finally 2 bouncers got him relatively awake and standing, though his eyes were barely open and he was swaying, not able to hold himself up.

Personally I think this is scary, and that the bouncer should be reprimanded. It seems to me that this one guy is acting inappropriately, and every other security I've met or seen has behaved professionally.

I used to find it entertaining when people got thrown out, and I'll admit it, sometimes even amusing. Never again will I watch with anticipation. Fucked up IMO.

Yeah that is fu*ked up. I mean the staff was under more pressure than usual during this event but at the same time you shouldn't have someone especially in security working for your club that could be a liability.

I know exactly what you mean as i also saw some unnecessary force used to throw someone out too....this time almost knocking over a girl that was not even in the way. I went downstairs to see if i could get the bouncers name but i didn't see him again. I mentioned the incident to a friend of mine that works security there and fully intend to mention it to a higher up the next time i go there. There is NO reason why anyone should be forced to be in the middle of any kind altercation and fear for their safety in ANY way. We go to a club to have a good time and while i find it very admirable that there is security in place to make sure that things run smoothly, excessive force is NOT right. Bouncers need to get off the roids and stop letting the "authority" get to their heads.

They should get a few smaller bad ass 'Road House' kind of bouncers up in there..LOL

I was there for a VERY brief time...was not in the best of moods. but good seeing you guys as always. It was way too hot for me plus my attire didn't help. I don't even think I was there for an hour

Jackie, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same bouncer. Props to you for trying to do something about it. Bouncers like that make me feel a hell of a lot less safe. Aren't they supposed to prevent problems, not cause them?

According to some though things like this don't happen...He probably deserved getting dropped ::) and if he didn't, He should have asked for the Manager and pledge his side of the story like a good clubber :-X

I saw the same altercation with the "big guy", except I walked into it after he was already knocked down. I didn't really know what was going on, but as I walked out of the 2nd floor room some bouncer put his hand on my chest and wouldn't let me through to the patio. I was in no state of mind to argue, so I let it go. Eh, whatever....it looked like they had both cops and bouncers escorting him out. By the looks of him, it looked like he took a pretty bad fall. Not cool.

Oh geez, I had some roided out bouncer brag to me one time how a patron asked for the manager and he said "right this way"....took him to the back door and gave him a swift kick in the ass. The bouncer knows nothing will ever come of it after the guy gets thrown out so what do they have to lose.....

No shit..Go ask someone else for the manager that's non security staff if you have a security issue. Go to the ticket booth or something were managers usually hang out...

Well what I'm saying is that he didn't deserve that treatment. I saw the whole thing go down. i was sober and about 8 feet away. The guy was leaving willingly, hands raised in acceptance of his removal. The bouncer knocked him down for no reason.

He may have deserved to be thrown out, but nobody deserves that kind of unneccesary violence.

In my experience once a bouncer decides to throw you out there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Managers usually don't have time to deal with some shmuck when they have a 25,000 sq foot club to run.

C'mon now....the bouncers don't want you to have the opportunity to talk to the manager. Shit, they'll make up some story to the cops and have you taken away in the pattywagon just to cover their own ass. I've had bouncers brag to me about this stuff. It doesn't sound like this guy even had the opportunity to protest (if he had decided to that is) to anyone other then Mr. Concrete Floor.

If I remember correctly the head of security(or used to be) was a former high level Marine, Army etc. officer . The guy could handle some serious situation's in that club without drawing blood and getting them out of the club as quickly as possible.

These guy's are under alot of scrutiny to kick out dealer's user's and anyone else who is misbehaving. Do they over abuse this right? absolutly but there usually is a reason behind it.

I've seen some crazy shit in that place but there usually is some kind of reason, unfortunately some unlucky bloke get's to be the punching bag.

Then throw on top of that the cop's out front tired of watching cracked out people walking around, talk about wrong place, wrong time, wrong fucking club.

Oh and by the way for anyone who has worked in a nightclub, being on the sauce is almost a prerequisite, female's not apply lol.

I just didn't go. I was tired but ready to go when you called and told me Max already played the main room. Eventhough he did the patio I was just like screw it and went back to sleep. I can;t really do the wake up at 4am for the patio thing, so next time I'll be there from 12 or 1 like I would usually do.

..and this is def one of the things that irritates me about the miami scene , and something that the european scene is lIGHT YEARS AHEAD....there isn't a comrodery (sp) between clubber , know one looks out for a fellow clubber well being .

..it's almost if people get a kick out of seeing other people being in fucked up situations . :-\
