Guest stryke303 Posted December 26 Report Share Posted December 26 actually, the difference is pretty discernable to just about anyone i think. the rane sounds very analogue in terms of frequency response and general warmth...it's got a good broad "feel" over the entire frequency band. the pioneer sounds a bit less analogue (but not in a bad way, as most other pioneer mixers sound). it doesn't sound digital. but, the way the mixer handles the high end and mid range, it definitely has a brighter punch over the rane. i think most listeners would here this difference at a side by side challenge. when i walked in the room on saturday, i noticed the difference immediately before even entering the booth. the mixer is pretty damn cool actually. if it's staying, i think a 4 db boost in all the subs on the floor at 18Hz and below will do the trick to really balance everything out. get that audia fired up as far as the allen and heath, there's one of the djs at the club who isn't a big fan of them. cool mixers though! has anyone checked out the xone emulation in the new native instruments traktor dj studio 3? heaven!tt Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest pod Posted December 26 Report Share Posted December 26 Praise the Lord. It really does come down to personal preference in a Rane vs DJM-1000 competition. The DJM is a full digital mixer...24/96, the whole bit. Aside from turntables, you can have your whole system digital end-to-end with this. Also, unlike the Rane, it does have MIDI capabilities, so you can integrate it with video mixers like the Edirol, or any other MIDI instrument. The Rane is just a straight analog DJ mixer, the Pioneer is more along the lines of a digital performance tool...sort of a bridge from the world of straight DJ mixing to the world of performance engineering.
