USA cannot expect to compete without at least 2 great strikers a team has to create its own luck, the US never created enough situations to contest any game.....including the game with Italy...the only thing they proved was that they were not gonna be blown out by the better team...showed heart...but that was a lost Italy scored against itself.....people complaint about calls and this and that and an Italian autogol is as lucky as you could ever get when loosing to a far superior team.2. Play Copa America ask to be invited...like Mexico does and have been doing for a few years now....have to raise the level of competition CONCACAF is not going to do it....play brazil, Argentina, Uruguay (9 world championships combined).....play superstars raise your level see what you are lacking....playing Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, honduras...is not gonna raise your level ever....their football is amateur at best....the #5 ranking in the world is based on beating these teams....not caliber opponents...that's a fact. When you call beating mexico the biggest accomplishment in your career...you will have problems in the world cup. Mexico has never won anything important....and after they play Argentina on the second round is over....3. landon Donovan was scoreless in the world cup and has a streak of about 18 or 19 games that means he probably only has scored once in the last 2 1/2-3 years ......he failed in Europewhy expect him to score? now he sucks big time......4. The US team believed the hype without earning it....last time they went farther in the world cup...and expected to go further this time....why? France won in 1998 and was out on the first round...that's to put things in perspective and they were the defending world champs...nothing is a guaranteed especially if you cannot score and you expect to go far in the tournament.5. The rest of the world was not surprised.6. The US has never won anything in football....(males).7. Is not just experience to go far in the tournament, you need superstars on clutch, champions, European league champions, club world champions, Copa America champions.....real high level play experience.....if you don't have it the MLS wont provide it.8. Bruce Arena is delirious.....get a German, Argentinan, Brazilian or English coach......one with aproven record...with world championships....show how to be a champion.9.Colombia, Peru, Chile used to be beat up by Argentina and Brazil silly....they are not expected to loose, but to play well.....they got real coaches, international superstars playing in Erupe and in the best clubs in the world.....that's the only way to raise your level......10.A call has been blamed for bigger blunders......the pk against Argentina in 1990 finals...was a blunder that gave Germany the title ( Brehme scored the West German penalty kick in the 84th minute after Voeller was fouled by Sensini.) Voeller has admitted not suh foul ever happened....Argentina couldn't score..well it went the other way just like it could have been for them....now that's the finals not against Ghana....so whatever.11. Plenty of header and near crosses flying too high. So the situations were there... but they lack the finishing touch. And it's kinda hard to create scoring chances when you only have 9 men on the field. Regardless... they didn't play well enough and that's that. End of story.
