Guest mp3some
Israel says Hizbollah raids an "act of war" by LebanonBy Jeffrey Heller JERUSALEM, July 12 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert described deadly raids by Hizbollah guerrillas into Israel on Wednesday as an "act of war" by Lebanon and said its government would bear the consequences. Hizbollah said it captured two Israeli soldiers in the cross-border attacks from Lebanon. Al Jazeera television said seven Israeli soldiers were killed. Olmert threatened "very painful and far-reaching" action in response to the raids, which have sharply raised Middle East tensions. "It is an act of war by the state of Lebanon against the state of Israel in its sovereign territory," Olmert told a news conference with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. "The Lebanese government, of which Hizbollah is a part, is trying to shake regional stability. Lebanon is responsible and Lebanon will bear the consequences of its actions." Israeli ground forces had crossed into Lebanon, Olmert said, apparently referring to initial searches for the soldiers. In addition, Israel had already began calling up reserve troops, signalling a large-scale campaign, Israel's Channel 10 television said.It said a reserve infantry division had been mobilised and was expected to be sent to the northern border with Lebanon. Israeli forces, which came under frequent attack by Hizbollah, quit southern Lebanon in 2000 after 22 years of occupation. Olmert has called a special cabinet session for 7 p.m. (1600 GMT). "We are already responding with great strength ... The cabinet will convene tonight to decide on a further military response by the Israel Defence Forces," he said. Israel has already launched a major military offensive in the Gaza Strip after Palestinian militants abducted a soldier on June 25 in a cross-border raid by gunmen including members of the governing Hamas movement. "These are difficult days for Israel and its citizens," Olmert earlier told reporters. "There are elements, to the north and the south, that are threatening our stability and trying to test our determination. They will fail and pay a heavy price for their actions." Olmert also issued a veiled threat against Syria, where Hamas's exiled political leadership lives. "Syria has proved ... it is a government of terror ... There must be proper preparations in order to deal with the Syrian government's behaviour," Olmert said. Israeli war planes buzzed one of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's palaces on June 28 in what the Jewish state said was a warning to him and the exiled Hamas leaders he hosts. http://today.reuters.com/business/newsarticle.aspx?type=tnBusinessNews&storyID=nL12727371&imageid=∩=Oh boy. :-\I dont like what is brewing over there. Israel is being pinched now on two fronts. First Hamas, now Hezbolla; making it Palestine, Lebanon and Iran teaming up against Israel. Things are getting waaaay out of hand there now. The worst part is that there is no world power/authority in a clear position to mediate and resolve these conflicts.I dont blame the israelis tho; but one of the main problems is that the fragile stability of the region has been shattered for a while now.... since about 2003. :-XWWIII is coming....... :-[ :'(

Guest trancepriest
Fuck Israel they get alot of breaks.... a whole lot of breaks... billions in fact. The way I look at it they deserve that shit for targeting Palestinian civil infrastructure. "Time for the US to step up the presence in the region"... LOL. Are you going to join the Armed forces or at least the IDF? Don't you know that America is fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq? Do you expect Americans to shed their lives in Lebanon, Iran and Palestine too? For what? Israel assassinates and kidnaps people all the time... the world doesn't listen to Palestinians and take their humanitarian rights seriously. Israel is an apartheid state and no one is complaining. They shoot missiles into apartment blocks... killing innocent civilians. This shit happens all the time. But somehow we should treat Israelis as if they are little angels who are always getting abused by Palestinians. I think Israel gets happy when a soldier is kidnapped or killed... that way they can use it as an excuse for severe military actions. Bomb bridges, electric plants, water facilities, parliament buidlings, etc. I think we should bomb Israel for having nuclear weapons or at least apply sanctions... right? Its obvious that Israel is a destabilizing force in the region and a growing military threat.

Guest Mattivi
support our Israeli Troops Israel never gets a break :'( time for the US to step up the presence in the regionwow, though i dont condemn extremist organazations like hezbollah and hamas to an extent, i still feel no pity for israel. if you really look back in history, the palestinans were systematically robbed of their land. im going to catch heat for this but its true.some type of accord has to be reached on a palestinaian state, but either side has been willing compromise for the better part of a half century. its definetly the worlds strongest running lost cause. every time u think there is hope, some food court gets bombed or some airstrike takes out a group of children playing stickball. both sides are so mired in their hate they cant even see the bullshit they perpertrate on each other. there is only one way this can end... it wont.
