Guest missgroovethang Posted October 14 Report Share Posted October 14 honestly .... i expected more .. way morei was glad i was able to say hi and wish another happy b-day to the lust4house family but the place didnt seem like it was ready for a party ...so simple .. no decorations .. no smoking permitted inside .. blah !music was good, farina was good .. lust were good ... but hey! it is a 9 year anniversary! how about some baloons or some dancers or something on the walls !!hanging out outside was kinda cool though ... getting the smoking breaks and telling people to sushhhsss their mouths cause someone might complaint lol ...thanks to major for the drinks .. ps. James got lost ? You all make me continue to do what I do so thankyou from the bottom of my heart..... look for an announcement soon about future events at shine and once again thankyou to everyone from staff to patrons - you guys rock! as for those of you with your negative remarks everyone is entitled to their opinion but we must have been at different events. everyone from styke to luis diaz to biz to wmc director bill kelly to ultra fest ceo alex omes to the booty boys to rolly plus countess others included the CJ massive were in attendance and from the jumping and screaming from the dance floor the vibe sure seemed good to me. As for mark he was wicked as always - played everything from mushroom jazzy house, to jackin chicago house, to propper prog, to classic old school house and even threw several hip hop vocals and beats over top. he also played both vinyl and cd which is always a plus in my book these days. Musically and technically Mark Farina is known world wide as one of the best US based DJ's by a long shot and in my opinion he proved why last night... some of the things he does behind the decks is magical and really imaginative and anyone who understands any genre of music should have been able to enjoy last night.... he played something for everyone like a DJ of his status should... can't wait to have him back - as biz said "we believe in mark" - thanks again to everyone especially the staff, vaughan, nicole, jason, and sheldon and the entire lust family plus a huge thankyou to Mark Farina for making last night special..... Guest dahzel Posted October 15 Report Share Posted October 15 wow, this is the most diverse review i've read on cj. there are many elements that go together to make a clubber's experience on a night out. it seems that a lot of the complaints are directed towards different elements. i didn't realize that it was not only the grand-reopening of shine but also the 9 year ann. for lust 4 house. i don't know who would've been responsible for the decor but chib is right when he says that there should have been something for the atmosphere of the club. jon cowan addressed the music at the club but i was surprised that the decor wasn't addressed. a lot of the "vibe" comes from people dancing and enjoying the music. but if a lot of people aren't feeling the club itself, the music can only do so much. Perhaps there is truth to his story. i agree that everyone has their own style and opinions and that's the way it should be. i would like to know if it was 1 bad beer or if it was many bad beers. shit happens and 1 bad beer is not an issue but if beer after beer was nasty than it's a big problem. i doubt it was like that but he didn't elaborate either. usually a bad review doesn't mean shit but for a place that is reopening and needs good press, this doesn't help shine's situation. for me personally, a bad review is just that, someone else's experience and their opinion. this or any other bad review would not stop me from going to shine or any other venue. every place has a bad night every now and then. i wish jon cowan and everyone involved good luck in the future.
