Each home has a taxiway connecting to the main airstrip. Obviously only for Cessnas and such, though I'm sure if you bought an F-15 or a MiG surplus, you cold still take off on the short runway. It was never more annoying than during the hurricane blackouts when he spent like 15 minutes lighting up the neighborhood with his search light every night.
