Guest Buck White Posted February 5 Report Share Posted February 5 Wow. o.k...uh, there's obviously a few things I'm going to have to learn.I'll begin by saying that most of us envision a certain style of music when you mention a particular DJ (one that's established and known, of course )....that's why I mentioned a couple. I didnt realize I should of posted a link to the particular style I was referring to. And if I did....I certainly wouldnt think anyone would go to it. So apologies are in order. I guess saying proper house to someone who's never heard it referred to as such would cause a bit of confusion. I certainly didnt know what happy hardcore was...and still don't for that matter. Most genre's of dance music are off-shoots of house ( or disco if you want to go back even further ) and thats why I said proper house. And,as I stated before, I enjoy most styles of dance music...and I've had fun at parties where progressive was the meal of the day. I mean Tenaglia used play Trance for christ sakes....although he would pitch it down immensely. I just didnt know if Space had some type of aversion to House music. As far as damn near being lambasted about being "newbie"....Mr. Miami's first-ever post must have been his thousandth....oh....wait... he's just encroaching that beautiful number now....newbie. If you suffer from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or have any sense at all, please avoid this ride at all costs !Step One Mega Club opens, rave reviews, packed for months, bog standard top ranked dj’s make the obligatory appearance, house/progressive in the main room, anything else in the back.Step Two The novelty begins to wear off, first round of Dj’s/Promotors/Staff etc. get cut, club introduces “new†nights & formats.Step ThreeAfter realizing the club is bleeding more money than a hemophiliac playing hockey, the investors/owners decide a radical change is in order i.e. put the club up for sale or remodel it.Step FourInevitably the main room starts to play hip hop, whose patrons actually enjoy buying a drink or two, and the “cool†music is relegated to back room status.As Pod would say, wash, rinse, repeat.DISCLAIMER These steps do not apply to small bars and venues, who have the luxury of being intimate enough to actually cater to people with a wider range of musical tastes.
