Well since you don't understand..

What i meant about Miami is not the FANS....

its the Owners.

They have no problem paying a guy like Morillo $40,000

But if your a DJ who lives in Miami and Get Paid $15,000

out of town.. Your lucky if a Miami Club Owner will pay you

$2,000..

Just couse you live in miami.. Even though you have more then 40 gigs out of Miami.. Your still Local..

Pretty unfair.. for the Local guy..

When the Club sales are not too far apart..

And the Club is stuffed..

$40,000 ? you have got to be kidding me . no wonder my Heineken's cost ten dollars. the sad part is there's thousands of so-called bedroom d.j.'s that can cause as much dancefloor mayhem as any of these guys.

that's an egregious amount of money for mixing records.

You see my friend, they are not paying him to mix records.

They are paying for his name.

How can you not understand that?

Uhm...I do understand it. 40,000 dollars ? That's an egregious amount of money for a name.

That's the way the cookie crumbles I guess. As long as people are consistently wanting to pay him $40K or more, then that's what he'll ask for. If they don't, he'll drop to $30K and so forth.

$40,000 is not alot of money when you are planning on making $70,000.

I shoot for a living, but there's certain lucrative markets that I've passed up because it's just "not me". However, when it comes time to pay the rent, sometimes you gotta make compromises.

gay porn?

Hah. There's no money in that. What I mean is I'll shoot something like someone's house for a real estate brochure if the clubland thing isn't paying up that month.

i remember when EM was only 7k(2003)

then 15k(2004) 20k(2005) 30k(2006) + private jet from PR to DR, then i heard Mansion paid 40K...so i'm no longer surprised...

he still gets booked, so the prices will keep increasing

When I first came down to Miami and met most of You, I was "introduced" to the sounds of OG in the old space main room. After a few months I was also "Introduced" To EM's for being a good entertainer and always packing up a club.

As many have suggested, they are both good dj's. I know everyone is working for that "Dolla!", I personally have just moved away from most of the electro/prog that EM plays in the patio. As I would not go see him anywhere else due to chaos in other venues and it just isn't worth it.

Everyone knows that EM brings all the fine bitches, which is one of the reasons I always went. It was just insane. Didn't all have to do w/ his dj skills, but alot of these women are out there to compete with one another, and thus you have a club packed with Miami's finest.

Saw OG 2 Saturdays ago in the mainroom late morning hours, and till this day he will always blow me away w/ his track selection. My type of "sound".

The whole "who's bigger and who's not" comparison to me is bs...there are many dj's out there who are "better" or have different track/genre selection that you wouldn't see all over the universe playing at outdoor events and such. Doesn't mean they aren't as popular or big time as some of these 40k plus electro/entertainers.

"It's not what you know, it's who you're connected with."

whoever needs the dj to be an "entertainment" has no a clue about what a real people looks or need from a real dj

the analogy would be do you need the faked recorded laughs from a comical tv show to star laughing?

So what your saying is..

That Dj's are not entertainers?

You must be confused with something else, anytime a large mass of people goto a nightclub to see a Dj they are being entertained.

i was talking about the people who expects the dj to be a showman...or even worse..the peple who measures the 'success' of a dj based in their 'personality'

I totally agree. You really can't judge a DJ by anything more than his DJing skills, and you can't expect every DJ to be a showman. Some just don't have that kind of personality. For example, I think Nic Fanciulli is one of the absolute best around right now, but are you gonna hear him get on the mic to try to amp up the crowd? Probably not.

I agree, as well. But for the people who clamor around the DJ booth and stare intently at these guys like they're splitting atoms in front of their faces.....guys like Erick give them their monies worth. I still, to this day, don't understand what that's about. Have you ever seen this after a successful mix -> :o ?
