all4tribal1414779019
He's a non electro dj...I don't sweat the guy, i just go for the women and the people that go out to see that genre of music...90% nyc heads, but they know how to have fun, the 4'11 afterhours mohawk groupies won't be attending that party for sure, which is a great thing. Guest pod
I don't really sweat most DJs. I can deal as long as it's dance music. What irks me about any event is the crowd. Mayor says this event is gonna be "de-guidofied", if I can invent a word, and like I said, I'll make an effort to pop in and see what the deal is. It's the crowd that drives the night after all. Guest FRESHMAN
Its not going to be-deguidofied, However the dress code as always will be strictly enforced.Which means no shorts, wifebeaters, hats or bandanas.
Guest pod
Well, that's what I meant. If you take away the shorts and wifebeater, is a guido still a guido?

Guest Marina22
Geez all this for JP? For those of you who are going let us know how it goes.. I will pass on this one since there are other shows all this month I'd rather check out. ie.. Planet of the Drums, Mark Knight, Adam Freeland, and that's just off the top of my head.. My friend said of JP last time, "he's a dj that plays nothing but records that other djs drop in only here and there." Not sure if that meant boring or just vocally.. LOL Again, don't know from experience (although I assure guidos) and yes, I too like me some tribal.

Guest rcpimp
Alright Im slightly bewildered bc from the way it sounds you guys actually think JP's following is going to fly down from NY to come here him play at Gryphon for 1 night? Im sorry but I dont really see many "guidos" here in South Florida so Im pretty sure you guys don't have anything to worry about so get over the fist pumping comments. Secondly those fist pumping guidos bring more energy to a club than any clubbers Ive ever come across down here. As a dj it kills me to see people down here dancing half ass in the club (are we too cool to dance or do we just not know how to down here?? I know girls from NY that would dance circles around most of the people here and that just makes a clubbing experience that much more enjoyable when you get to see circles form on the dancefloor and guys and girls battle it out, and when its done give each other a pound or a hug and go right back to dancing). And lets not forget that he is the #1 dj in America so instead of knocking the guy why not open up your minds alittle bit to something other than Electro house for once. To be quite honest with you if you, although JP isnt what he was a few years ago, catch JP on a good day and the guy would show up any of your favorite djs hands down. The man is a musical genius...he doesnt just play a record or a cd then play another record...have you even seen his setup.....the guy is running 2 desktop computers or 2 laptops, a midi controller and your usual cdjs and vinyl. He remixes songs on the fly and still manages to bring energy that in my opinion is lacking in House Capital of the U.S. If any of you have ever experienced the Sound Factory days you would understand why he is where he is today. If you can name another dj that could bring in 4,000+ people every week at ticket prices ranging from $30-$150 depending on the event week in and week out for 7+ years straight without missing a single weekend then you name em

Guest pod
Well, at least you can recognize it. Never really seen the guy play, but at the end of the day, he's making mad money off of an art form some people are saying is dead. If it takes the help of JP and the guidos to keep good clubs from going open format, then so be it.

Guest myles hie
You, a DJ of house music, would rather see cheesy top 40 than whatever form of house music JP drops?I would be more intersted to see what comes out of cross pollinating other styles and genres of music. If you hear different styles of music, dance, rock, rap, pop, jazz, metal etc, etc together it might blend inside your brain in a unique way that might cause you to create something new out of already exsiting material. That to me is potentially more exciting than the status quo.intrestingly enough, i have heard some of the freshest beats and concepts coming from top 40 type stuff. Guest FRESHMAN
How do you guys know how he will play at Gryphon, you dont think that he is capable of reading the room? This guy has been a dj for many years I believe he will be able to read the room and adjust his sound for Gryphon. It will be a different experience then most of you have experienced in the past. Guest tres-b
JP played Atlanta about 9 months ago. He did a good job understanding the crowd and the venue. It was a fun night. Was it OG at Space? No, but it was a quality go out night. As for the crowd, there were some classic guidos. It was hilarious seeing them jump around with bandanas and sunglasses on. 8)

Guest pod
What I'm getting at is I don't really see much in the way of creativity at open-format parties around here. Maybe one or two, but the lot of them tend to be some guy with his newly-acquired MacBook kicking out shoddy MP3s all night.

I see what your saying, and i'm not nessarily saying "Living On A Prayer" back2back with "Hot in Here" will lead to a musical revolution, but the idea of different things potentially coming together from different places would be more exciting than hearing the same recycled style beats
Guest pod
I'm not talking about that, what I'm referring to is the prevalence of local venues and promoters who throw their cousin Ricky on the decks because he's got a laptop and steals music all day. I'd rather give JP a chance than put up with that.
