And because interacting with your data directly with your fingers is simpler and more intuitive than interacting with your data indirectly, through a mouse or a trackpad.Teaching my grandmother to use a mouse recently was surprisingly hard. It isn't as intuitive as we think to indirectly point at things and click on them by pressing a button. Mouses and trackballs and trackpads are better than typing commands into the computer, but pointing devices are a stepping stone on the way toward just reaching up and touching your data directly.
