i was gonna say that! ha,

but i finally saw an i-phone this weekend, and im not a mac head, and i want one! it really is the coolest thing, thanks to purple for letting me fuck around with his on sunday, nothing like pulling down real porn on a telephone

The virtual keyboard is the future for one simple reason, it can be changed on the software level. So in the future, you can change how your keyboard reacts or functions. Plus, less parts on the phone, has to be cheaper to make.

And because interacting with your data directly with your fingers is simpler and more intuitive than interacting with your data indirectly, through a mouse or a trackpad.

Teaching my grandmother to use a mouse recently was surprisingly hard. It isn't as intuitive as we think to indirectly point at things and click on them by pressing a button. Mouses and trackballs and trackpads are better than typing commands into the computer, but pointing devices are a stepping stone on the way toward just reaching up and touching your data directly. Future generations will look back on the mouse and it will look antique and obsolete.
