Adam, you could have moved out ages ago at your current income level, and still saved for a ripoff condo.

Saving money isn't worth being stuck with the parents. You should have been out years ago.

I pay a pittance for where I live, and still could squirrel away for a place if I felt the need to.

According to a City Commissioner, '08 will see some really insane deals in the area.

Working on a deal in Pompano now, Palm Aire (sp?). Let me know if that's a good area for you. I have the real estate broker's card and can give you her number. I am not kidding when I say it's a steal..

looks pretty sweet -

show me some pics marina or the address

I think you are looking more in the Fort Lauderdale area by the looks of your pics and maybe by the beach? Palm Air is a residential area in Pompano, West of Atalntic blvd. near that casino with the horse track. My pics were not taken by the realtor, hence taken by me with all the owner's sutff there, I also don't have the camera with me. Pm me if you want the details and the brokers number. It's no beach view but I have a view of the golf course, three bedrooms, plenty of space, furniture, and a few of pools nearby.

Yeah - I definitely don't want to live there. It's all old people.

I want to live live somewhere north of 17th street, south of sunrise, east of us1 all the way to the ocean...or right in the heart of downtown

going to call people off craigslist tomorrow, its a buyers market, i should be able to find a deal =)

That's really funny, all old people.. Puhlease, I live in Boca now so don't talk to me about old people. ::) I went to check out my new place and the broker said there's actually alot of families with kids. You're definitely looking for something different. I'm just happy to live further South in a relatively safe area that is nice and really cheap for the size and condition of the apartment. Good luck.

seems the market is fine at the top though .. there was a report on cnbc about the premium housing market in silicon valley as being on the upside while everything else was down.

bling, you don't think this has anything to do with the whole sub prime credit mess thats been exposed in the past couple of weeks?

the subprime market downfall has led to a record number of submissions at our company but with deflated property values we are getting lots in but less properties are closing

everyone is hurting........ :-\

all teh subprime borrowers who have shyte credit have no choice but to go hard equity. and hence us or our direct competitors

Isn't continuing to rent also a choice?

Ramon, the reason the rich people aren't affected is because their homebuying habits mirror the stock market's performance (unless they're a developer). If you don't count the last month, the stock market has done VERY well over the past few years, especially the technology sector (which would explain Silicon Valley).

The subprime "mess" will work itself out. If you're a short-term speculator, then yes....you have reason to worry. But if you're a long-term investor you have nothing to worry about. The American economy is the strongest in the world and a few jabronis who can't pay their mortgage will have little effect unless you let the media convince you otherwise.

I'm not too worried about the whole sub prime mess. I'm just glad I didn't get an ARM a few years ago. I'm definitely thinking much longer term with my investments.

The thing that was interesting was that it even though everyone was hurting that premium 800,000+ market was doing great. Some guy had listed his house for like 1.1M and got like 1.4M. That is due to how scarce good premium housing is in the valley though. It's just interesting to see while everyone else is saying its buyer's market in certain sectors you can still make some money.

the market is GREAT

found a great condo today that couldnt sell for 400K - so what happened ? they are renting it

for a SICK price, they are almost giving it away

waiting for them to draw up a lease now ...steps from the beach, 2 minutes from downtown...this is awesome !
