Where are you getting this from? If it is his copyright, he can distribute it however he wants, even by giving it away for free.However, he may have lost his right to claim the copyright when he allowed Viacom to play it on their show. You have to defend your copyrights, and when someone rips it off, you need to go after them. Otherwise the law assumes that you have allowed it to pass into public domain.But, just because you post it on the web does not give anyone the right to use it for any reason. That would be like saying that just because I put my book in a library, that means anyone can come and make photocopies of it and sell them.
