Guest LeVeL
Yeah I agree Cooljunkie needs to attract people from the Hip Hop/Reggaeton scene since thats where all the young blood is these days.As much as the community may not like it, its the only way its going to attract more people. Or else your going to continue to attract people who are friends of a certain promoter or people who are friends of others that post here and frankly they will be like us in our age group.Another thing is that when someone new does post on here and speaks out, they immediately get chewed up, bashed and eventually banned. I am not sayng to be more welcoming because the truth is these newbies eventually couldn't take the critism once they spoke out against something. But as a community there are a lot of crews on cooljunkie that stick together and once something is spoken out against them they eventually team up against that person. There are a lot of members that I would love to hear speak out but they dont because they dont want to be the bad guy of the community and they know who they are.So I welcome newbies let them speak out and be heard.. Guest pod
Speak out and be heard all you want. I don't mind that. It's just that a lot of people who have "spoken out", they do it like a bunch of semi-literate buffoons, and of course the community is going to attack. If someone comes on here and trashes a DJ or a club the majority likes, all that I ask for is that they do it in a civil matter. All caps, name-calling, and wild accusations do not count Take El Gato. I banned him for making overt personal attacks against just about everyone, in other words, he contributed nothing. If he said something to the effect of "You guys would drop dead if you saw DC-10", I would have let it slide. Hell Ramon does it all the time. And last time I checked, he's still here . As for hip-hop and reggaeton? Come on down. Stay within the regs, and post about Miami hip-hop to your hearts content. I'd be thrilled if Craze or Mayday posted here. Guest pod
New people are nice, but it's critical to hold on to long-time participants for a sense of continuity and community.
Guest endymion
Remember our DJ spinoffs? What happened to those? I can understand why our new owners told us to kindly stop expanding into the national market, but why did CoolJunkie stop doing all of the things that were making CoolJunkie fun? We used to be progressive, and we stood for bettering our nightlife community. What do we stand for now? Animated banner ads for the Seminole Hard Rock Casino? This just reminds me of every single cool and original radio station everywhere, getting bought by Clear Channel and ending up with a 40-track playlist and the same 12 national commercials. Guest endymion
i joined cj thanks to yr 1 of spinoffs. sunset place.. When I went to the Bodies exhibit at Sunset, it was pretty strange to look around and realize that we had a spinoff there, right where all of the cadavers were all cut open. I mentioned to somebody from out of town that we had done an event there and she looked at me like I was Hannibal Lechter. "Uh no, the bodies weren't here then..." If the Dj Spinoff would return it would be nice to see it expanded to other types of genre's not just EDM, since its the skill of the Dj that should matter in a competition. But its true..CJ has been in a stalemate once they got bought out by Track Entertainment. But again when Global Gathering happened 2 years ago it attracted a lot of people to the site. Its really difficult u know..but I say let the reggaeton/hip hop kids in..right now this site is basically a EDM board as much as Pod wont admit it. Guest pod
It is a dance board to an extent, yes, but I've always been willing to let people post about whatever music here. Again, in a civil fashion. Hey, at least it's not like the days when certain people accused me of being biased against trance!

Guest endymion
CJ has been in a stalemate once they got bought out by Track Entertainment.I agree with you personally. I just wish they would let me keep doing what I was doing so successfully. It's just sad to see long-time members telling Pod that CoolJunkie has jumped the shark' date=' and he's powerless to do anything about it. How can I sit here and watch that happen and not feel bad? While Nick and I were building this thing, and Sarah was out promoting it, and Pod was shooting photos for us for free (and Barbarino was causing problems), there was a can-do sense of bringing it together for the community around here. If something was broken, Nick and I went and fixed it, said oops sorry, went on to improving the next thing. We had big dreams. Live streaming video from venues, all kinds of crazy JFK ideas that I'll bet we could have pulled off. Where is all of that now? The search box still doesn't work! But again when Global Gathering happened 2 years ago it attracted a lot of people to the site.Okay, yes, that's true. Global Gathering was a much bigger deal than the spinoff. I know that we made money from the spinoff though, and I'm not sure how profitable Global Gathering ended up in the end. It was a great sponsorship for the CoolJunkie brand for sure.

Guest pod
In my mind, the brand still has promotional and social value, at least in this town. For example, from top to bottom, with the help of the venue, I had to single-handedly produce a party at Space two weeks ago. What I did: - site promotions- email blast- visuals (I learned After Effects real quick) - coordinated guestlists and getting "our" people in. - getting the DJs booked and paid- getting an extended open bar, for our people only. Which the venue never does. - oh, and shoot photos of it too.And many, many people said "Man, it's great to have a CJ party again!" Now, I did not think of this party. LP, as our longest-tenured industry supporter, asked why we haven't done one in awhile, and offered me the night. The party went swimmingly well, by the way. CrzyC1414779017
I havent read all the previous posts yet but in case it hasnt been addresses...we really need a Miami Events board. This is where ALL party promotion is kept. And make a rule that you have to post the date first, then club and then party title that way it keeps it organzied for people who truly just want to know whats going on that week. Then have a Past Miami Events board where all of the previous weeks promotion threads get moved to on Monday morning. That way discussions of the parties can still continue but you dont have to sift thru those to find out whats happening the following week. Does that make sense? Guest pod
It does, but what I'm considering doing is an engineering variation of that. It could take time to implement though. And require mod activity.

Guest pod
Go Dan Vidal. A true professional.Thank you. As an aside, I maybe touched 2 drinks from 9 PM until 6 AM after I got our closing DJ paid and settled. After that, it was go-time. My phone blew up the week after, with other promoters and venues wondering when they would have the opportunity to host a CJ party.

Does that make sense?+1 much sense!!!!When people call me to ask what's up on any given night I go through my emails or CJ. My emails are pretty easy to sort but I find it a little harder to sort through threads. I like the standardization or format to follow of posting an event. DATE - CLUB - PARTY I also like the idea of an events section where an evant can stay up on the given date thus eliminating the "bump" factor.my $0.
