WONKA 2 - JUNE 2ND 2001 - INFO LINE - 312-409-5784

The Wonka Experience

From the record breaking 100-foot wall of sound to OVT and Mark Martin's unbelievable visual display, Wonka 1 raised the bar in the eyes and ears of thousands. Over a year in preparation; Willy Wonka and all of his little friends invite you to return to their world of lickable wallpaper, oompaloompa hullabaloo and smellatoriums, where surprises lurk around every corner.

We take a different approach to constructing a fully interactive electronic music environment. As you prepare yourself for the Wonka 2 experience, tie your shoelaces tight and keep all your senses on full alert. This year we're taking it to another level with two unbelievable rooms full of imagination and internationally acclaimed talent. Expect the unexpected for "We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of the dreams." -Willy Wonka

DJ Sneak - Magnetic, All World

Sneak's pioneering, filtered house style can lay claim to influencing other artists such as Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and Armand Van Helden, to name a few. DJ Sneak has been producing his banging signature style of House for over ten years. Influencing his work were early Chicago underground House music pioneers such as Farley Jackmaster Funk, Ralphi Rosario and Steve Hurley. He has held his place as one of the top 100 DJs of the world for 5 consecutive years. This year, Sneak will be launching his new record label Magnetic Recordings where he is releasing all new music, compilations, new talents and continue to preach the sound of Chicago House Music. The future will bring about new light to DJ Sneak's journey focusing on the development and evolution of electronic music's struggle to be acknowledged as the sound of tomorrow.

Derrick Carter - Classic Music Company

Whether you've heard him perform once in your life or party with him every week, we all agree, he's a turntable magician. His seamless blends and the unbelievable length of his mixes leave people's jaws dropped all across the world. No matter what your mood or what's going on in your reality, just one look at his infectious smile and everything seems all rightâ€Â¦ If you've heard any of the releases on Derrick's labels Blue Cucaracha and Classic, you'd expect that his sets run the whole musical gamut from house, old-school disco, soul, jazz, and whatever else inspires him at any given moment. Gracing our stage in a very special performance with his old friend DJ Sneak, we proudly welcome a true living House legend.

DJ Swamp - Decadent Records

One of the world's master turntablists, DJ Swamp is best know as Beck's DJ. You may have seen this former USA DMC champion's turn table trickery at the MTV Music Awards, the Grammy Awards or touring with Beck. You will witness his eccentric, show stopping performance projected live on our enormous screens. Swamp's skills defy the imagination and we proudly welcome this turntable maniac back to Chicago for Wonka 2.

Paul Anthony - Rhythm Syndicate, Fabric Recordings

Paul's high-energy House and inventive scratching have powered his way to the top of Midwest's most wanted lists. Playing right before DJ Swamp, Paul Anthony will be using everything in his arsenal. With the challenge of Wonka 2 ahead, Paul has a few new tricks up his sleeve. Look out for 4x Harder, soon to be released on UC/After-hours.

Joe Manu A.K.A. DJ Hyperactive - 4 Track Records

Willy Wonka cordially invites you to witness the long anticipated return of a Chicago underground legend. After over a yearlong hiatus from spinning, Hyper returns with a vengeance to tear it up in his hometown. DJing and producing for well over10 years, Hyperactive has been a driving force behind the Midwest techno movement from day one.

Mike Dearborn - DJAX, Majesty Records

Mike Dearborn is without a doubt, one of the most widely respected techno DJ/Producers to hail from Chicago. After signing with DJAX, Mike went on his international tour. With his punishing techno style, he floored sold out crowds throughout Europe, Australia, Japan and Germany, performing both at May Day 7 and May Day 8. As always, we can expect Mike Dearborn to push our sound system to it's limits.

Brandy James - Unique Recordings

His impeccable programming and track selection carry you through pounding beats, epic builds, and atmospheric breaks that leave you longing for more. Brandy James founded Unique in '95 and he's been spinning and promoting events ever since. While others will try to take credit...Don't be fooled by imitations. This is the real...

Miss Hollie - Deceptikon Unit

Madison has seen an abundance of talent come and go in the past several years; few however have made the resounding impact that Miss Hollie has. Known for her flawless mixing and impeccable track selection, Hollie has made her presence felt since Porcupine Rocketship. Now residing in Chicago, tonight she'll be playing anywhere from electro-breaks to tough-minded trance, Hollie will cross all boundaries of sound with a passion for mixing that burns deep within.

Benz will be throwing down a very special, Deep House set for his birthday. At W2, he'll be spinning alongside Synthique, where you'll feel what sound is all about.

Dan Efex V.S. ET

Prepare for the fiercest trance tag-team battle ever. Dan Efex and ET will face off against each other for the first time in over two years. trance: you've pinpointed the glaring prob i've got with this...will it be in a "REAL" venue or will it be (to quote Scratch's immortal description of the site of LOTD4) "Some bunk ass convention center".

or, more importantly will the thing be in the city or not.
