nightcrawler Posted July 10 Report Share Posted July 10 Has anyone ever checked out the clubs in the west coast? i just came back from San Francisco this July 4th weekend and I was pretty disappointed with the scene out there. I went to this club called 1015 which is supposed to be one of the hottest clubs out there. The crowd was unusually unattractive, and the club was soo grimy, ok forget all that and just concentrate on the music I would say, but even that was bad, i mean it wasnt hyped at all, no energy house. On top of all this its illegal to smoke inside any club or bar in cali!! and get this... the Vicks Inhaler is illegal in CALI!!! another strange thing i noticed was that the people dont really dance they crowd around the dj and cheer him on like this is a preformance or something.....ugh..im so glad to be back in nyc im never leaving this city........ I knew not to get my hopes up but I thought it would've been better than it was. The music was really bad but the space was nice. As for the crowd - well....I'm at a loss for words. trance604 Posted July 10 Report Share Posted July 10 the only place that can even slightly compare to the amazing scene we had in '99 in NY is sacramento and northern california....now im not into your regular hoochie clubs and most of you arent either so the closes you can get to "raves" in NY is northern cal...but ti still doesnt compare. the onyl difference is CA is soo much nicer as a place to live... pilla Posted July 10 Report Share Posted July 10 Las Vegas is not really the coast but there are about 3 or 4 clubs therethat are off the wall hotc2k in the venitian is amazing its bigger then exit and plays the best music i have heard outside of NYC.the rum jungle not sure what casino but easy to find is also hot plus the music in studio 54 in the mgm grandis not that good but the people love to have a good time and they make up for the shotty music and i have never been to RA but friends tell me the music was good and the people were there to party If your lucky they will have a guest dj Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've been out here over a year from NYC, and have found some amazing parties, underground and hollywood, heard great music etc etc.. and yes desert rave parties are amazing!!!Is LA better than NYC, no I would never say that, NY is NY and its not really fair to compare... I'll always be a NY'er, but i have to tell you it's a nice break from Sound Factory and cheeseballs @ exit, I've had many amazing nights twilo..and going back to arena @ paladium : ( My opinion: NY has got the ultimate scene But I'm having the best time out here! robbiecastanos Posted July 10 Report Share Posted July 10 Thats interesting that you say that, I'm actually trying to head out to california in a month to visit an uncle, I was going to check out 1015 cause I heard from friends that their nakita and spundai parties are unmatched in the country, also I saw some of their early flyers and they seemed to have amazing DJ lineups, from what you say perhaps I was wrong, actually the only reason I was going to head out there is cause Anthony Pappa DJ's out there, but I guess now that he's coming to twilo in early Aug I'll stick to NYC. I used to go to school out there and me and my buddies would always throw desert parties out there. It's one of the funnest things ever, and there's just no place you can do that out here. Moontribe, Burning Man.. LA has some fun outdoor events. However, in terms of clubs, LA sucks. If you're into 25,000 people mega-raves, then you might have fun because there aren't those kinds of insane events out here (like Nocturnal Wonderland at the Orange Show). pikachu Posted July 11 Report Share Posted July 11 yeah, 1015 has gotten kind of played... www.1015.com but it's still a cool club.- some people say sound factory is played, see what I mean..there are other places, I haven't been to SanFran since last august, but mercury, remedy and endup were all chill.Vegas has been blowing up, (literally -i think utopia burnt down) I plan to go there for labor day - to see jp/boris etc..I think chris reda is throwing the parties..
