SF97,

My residency is in the backrooms... but I will be playing on the mainfloors periodically.. I actually was more hip to the backroom to start with.. If you go out in philly you know what the crowds are like now, so I have much more freedom in the back room.. I refuse to play commercial music just to DJ, to me, id rather not DJ at all. My opinion is, if you need to play anthems to get people to dance, your programming sucks and you cant pick good music.

OK OK OK easy kids. Shawn is ok but I can name a lot of up and comers that are better.

In no particular order (different genres):

1) DJ Uri (classics-house)

2) Agent Orange (D&B)

3) DJ Remy (House-Prog.)

4) DJ Cream (hip-hop)

5) DJ Finesse (comeback Hip-hop)

6) Omar Galeano (Trance-Deep house)** <--This one is already producing some major sounds!!

If you want to know where they are spinning mind you they are 21 and over joints and dress decent people!!

There will be no " Next " Jonathan Peters.. There's only one.. If your man wants to make it big he better create his own style cause ripping other djs styles wont get you anywhere..

playing a different style also hurts you..most places arent willing to help you experiment.

i just do my own parties...once a month..in small lounges around manhattan. no hassles no fuss.I invite a 100 of my closest friends..and we chill all night long.

Guys, IMHO, I dont know how you can classify an up and coming DJ who plays commercial music as up and coming. No disrespect to commercial music, progressive, trance etc... Thats what everyone else plays, so how can you distinguish yourself as a DJ if you play the same music as everyone else? Nothing against JP or the factory, but anyone can get the latest whitney houston, toni braxton, zombie nation, etc.. and play them. Peters outside of the NY area is really unheard of and the only people that really know of him are SF people. It's my opinion that if you really want to make it in the business you have to be unique, have your own sound and play your OWN music. I myself admit that DT is my mentor and everything he plays is amazing, but I try and play my own style when I spin. Ive seen so many DJ's with fancy names and stuff...when all they play is the same commercial stuff as the rest. What are people supposed to think .. "Wow, he can mix zombie nation like no one else..." ??? The european DJ's are completely different and have their own styles... PVD, DT, Diggers, Sasha, Tiesto, even Oaky, all have their own unique sound... Thats what its about, not who can tear up the latest amber.... again, IMHO, not meaning to start drama here..

Maybe your unaware of it but Jonathan Peters is the most wanted dj in Japan.. Out of all the djs, Peters is the one they want..

Sure he's not reknown like Danny, but thats because he hasnt had the years in the circut like Danny..

Didnt we just end a whole lot of JP BS?? You know your post was gonna spark something up..

Umm... I wasnt disrepsecting peters, I respect him a great deal for pulling off a 12 hour set every saturday, that is a feat in itself. but uh, hes been in the circuit for 15 years... maybe if youd take your head out of his ass youd realize there is life after factory and JP and there are many other good dj's as well. Ive had some great times at factory but people tend to go there for the drugs and for the hot bodies... Id bet $1,000,000 if JP stopped spinning and they got someone else playing the same stuff, attendance wouldnt even change.

Well you fucking jerkoff, my head is so NOT up Peters ass.. He is not my favorite dj, but I do enjoy him.. So STFU.. As for life after SF, ha.. What else is good on saturday nights?? There is no party on saturday night in NYC that is better then the one at Sound Factory..

15 years huh?? Please inform me.. He didnt even blow up untill his residency at Sound Factory.. Thats, what, 3-4 years?? I know where he has spun in the past, and blah, blah, blah, but he has only been big for a few years..

And from now on, dont look at me like some Jersey reject that only goes to the Sound Factory and has no idea what he's talking about.. Ok??

Just because I defend him, doesnt mean he's my favorite..

Sure your head is up his ass. Theres alot of good parties on Saturdays, Junior in the am is 10x more creative and plays a more diverse sound than Jonathan (although he's tired too now) and Victor is much better than JP IMO. Look around theres alot of better sounds to be heard besides the same old at Factory.

He's been djing a long time. Not sure if it's 15 yrs but he was around for a while.

It's hard to not look at you like a Jersey reject. You go to SF and think JP has a skill that is irreplacable when anybody can fill his shoes.

Bah.. I'd take Peters over Junior anyway.. I'm not a junior fan, and I'm not a Twilo fan.. I cant sit in a club and listen to vocal house and cheesy Junior remixes for 12 hours, sorry..

As for Peters being gay, well, I'm sure you know the truth to that.. Who are you again??

Why am I even bothering.. You dont know me from a hole in the wall.. You can steriotype all you want, I really dont give a fuck..

AND BUDDY, Vinyl is just as much of a crack house as SF, or any other club in NYC.. They dont even have a liquor licence!! Cheap beer at the back bar, thats about it.. I see just as many big eyes at 4 am on Vinyl's dance floor as I do on Sound Factory's.. So you really arent saying much..

Dont think I'm bashing Vinyl, Danny is my favorite dj.. You just make yourself sound stupid by saying " If you are that insecure and need to go to a place full of steroid and silicon enhanced bodies that do more drugs then a pharmacy to feel "masculine"...then the factory is for you. "

So when he played Green Velvets The Stalker and Answering Machine last week that's cheesy vocal house. You have no clue raver boy.

Vinyl def. does not have half the amt of crackheads as SF. Not even close.

You're reaching...keep trying.

I love how everyone classifies JP as a commercial dj. Are these people going to the same SF that I am? Let's see, he plays anywhere from 12-17 hours on any given Sat, night. In that time he MAY play 1-2 hours of commercial music (that's being generous) and it's usually something that he produced. The rest of the time he is playing everything you can imagine, half the shit nobody has any idea wtf it is. Is he considered commercial `cause his bpm's are about 10 beats faster than danny's? (It seems that a lot of people that don't like JP are DT fans)

Here's a question. Is Deep Dish considered to be commercial? Didn't they just remix the commercialist of all singers Madonna?

Do you think Danny would turn Madonna down if she offered him a chance to remix one of her tracks?

Been done already. He's turned down many big names as to not sell out...

Deep Dish's Madonna isnt a commercial sound.

Hex's is and thats the one JP plays.

I go to SF, only cause it's free and I remember what JP used to be like at Robots, and to meet with a few friends who go for the drugs and girls.

Glad to hear of the new vibe your trying to build here in Philly - you have a tough road ahead of you with the lack of musically educated club-heads running around here.

Good luck and I'll be sure to check it. Keep it dark, groovy and spiritual, baby. (think Hooj/Yoshitoshi/Paper labels wink.gif)

Peace
