How different was Carbon from Exit?,,

Recommended Posts

Ah, Carbon...

I can't really make the comparison between the two because I've never been to Exit. BUT, I did have one of the better nights out at Carbon...Terry Mullen played a couple years ago. The place was packed but not TOO packed. The vibe was great that night and the couple of other nights I went. But I WAS a little raver chick in those days... cwm7.gif

Very Very differnt! GIGicon15.gif

Carbon had differnt layout of floors, a differnt bar, cages that they had dancers in, a much smaller place then it is now... That was my place before Sound Factory.. then it was too big to have fun there.

Exit now has a massive dance floor, more bars, whole differnt DJ booth, more stuff....

if u went to carbon, and then went to exit...those places are totally different in terms of appearance. i have no idea how they changed that place around so much. exit is definitely a well laid out club (except for a SERIOUS lack of bathrooms!!!)....gotta give the architects their credit.

the vibe was different but not too different at carbon, still somewhat commercial, had their ghetto nights, nothing hardcore.

Extremely different.. I worked there when it was Mirage and then changed to Carbon.. It was great.. Very classy and had a diverse crowd.. Every room/floor had a different theme..It was a really beautiful place... Back then, when I worked there, we hosted alot of VIP parties/fashion shows, not to say that there weren't regular nights or anything but it really catered to an upperscale crowd.....

Mirage was great, great time, people, music etc, Carbon just seemed to lose the vibe, never really had a GREAT time there, fun, but nothing spectacular. For Exit, they pretty much gutted a lot of the space, opened up the second floor, put the suspended booth, lots of crazy staircaises for back rooms, I got lost the first night there trying to leave, talk about an oxymoron, I couldn't find the exit at Exit.

I like the space, but haven't really had a great time there either, the vibe is so different, but not in a bad way, just different.

I don't know what Tedruxpin is talking about. Mirage was open when Palladium was still open. It was like a super club / lounge. I remember Bobby Goodrich and A-luv throwing Casino night parties there. It was fun 21 and over, goodlooking. Like so many club were back in 95-96. cwm27.gif

Seems to me that exit is like the tunnel after DT left...well maybe not, it has all the glitz... but a big place with no "soul" is just a big place to me. Tunnel had a mood, a vibe. You walked in that main room and it was soooo dark and the music just set the tone... These big room places now seem to just be places to be and be seen. You truly need someone like DT or one of the greats to generate a vibe in a place that big. Otherwise, once the next "best thing" comes along...everyone flocks there... Thats what philly is, the same music, different location. I mean they all pretty much play the same progressive stuff, but once a new place opens, everyone goes there, because its the "hot spot"... till the next one...

it was good when it was mirage......then when it was carbon it was still good for a little while ..........then the crowd just became ugly........but the architecture is definitely and completely different..last year the first night at exit....i got there at 9-9:30PM. we were the first 20 people to get there..........walked in........no one there yet and I couldn't believe how different it was but I loved it.......it'll never be like the first night ever again
