Is there room for a new 3 day festival in South Florida?

assuming, that festival;is referring to an outdoor event. three days would be a bit much. I think that people, would loose interest, after a while. not to mention, how taxing a three-day event, would be from a physical, and financial point of view. I believe a one day festival would suffice.

I’m curious, what other folks think..

I just wanted to ask the general clubbing public if there's room for a huge 3 day festival, where the top DJ's in the world can spin 3-4 hour sets? What do you guys think about this?

I love Calle 8, If you can work something out to have that for 3 days striaght I would be elated.

Sorry I didn't fill you in on the rest of the gig. The festival will also be made up of Extreme Sports. BMX coarse, Skate Ramps, Paintball Fields and a few more things. Most of the music would happen later in the day with a big concert on the last day.

Get this, one ticket is good for all 3 days.

I think a one day thing would be better, although I do like that buying only one ticket is good for all 3 days... BTW, what does that one ticket include?

other factors, location, time of the year, etc.having this type of event in south Florida, could be an issue. I think it would, work better further north. you have a large college age population; that this type of event would appeal to. controlling prices with vendors; is a major issue. in my festival experience, purchasing something as simple as water, can set you back some serious $$. if the ticket price is within reason, and vendor prices are reasonable. I don’t see a reason, why an event of this magnitude would not succeed. if promoted properly. talent is a key factor, as well. just my $0.02.. :)

Well, it sounds appealing but some issues need to be addressed.

1) Ditch the extreme sports thing...it sounds way cheesy really. Might as well invite Blink 182 and Alien Ant Farm :puke:, and rename it to Lollapalooza: The Return or something...

2) One day totally. A lot of people will leave when they realise they're starting to stink like a French whore during the summer.

Well the event isn't just about electronic music. Extreme Sports will be showcased to the fullest and there is a HUGE crowd for extreme sports. By showcasing electronic music at an event like this, we'd be exposing the culture to alot of new faces. Also, the younger listeners will get the opportunity to witness DJ's and Live PA's that would normally be at 18+ and 21+ nightclubs and events. Reason for 3 days.

This event will be nothing like Lollapallooza. It will be better. We're talking about bridging Electronic Music and Technology together with Extreme Sports and throwing in the nightclub element later in the day.

Stay tuned. http://www.shutdownproductions.com

I know it's been done, but bring Ron Jeremy I'd forgive the ESPN2 X-games element if Ron showed up. Especially considering he is releasing a mainstream motion picture next week. :)

An American icon, Ron gives us all something to look up to :)

In all honesty, my ideal festival would combine the following elements:

1. High Technology in all forms. Bring exhibitors from musical instrument manufacturers like Roland, Korg, etc. Bring in computer hardware folk like Sun, SGI, and NVIDIA. Imagine a soundtrack by Luzon with visuals by SGI :). Toss in some more esoteric companies (ITT Night Vision, Nokia, etc...) and you'll have a cool little sideshow. Anything that just plain does kickass things is acceptable. :)

2. The best damndest electronic artists you can find. Live or DJing, it's all good.

3. A true sideshow element. I want to see the two headed man from Sierra Leone, and the Bat Boy of Hokkaido Island.

4. Sex, sex and more sex. "Massage Therapists", Porn Stars, Penthouse, Vivid Video, and all sorts of 'interesting' things to do.

5. A kick-ass sound and lighting production. I'll stop here, there's been too much fighting about that lately.

That's my ideal festival. I know it can't be held here in the US, but keep this post in your back pocket for some ideas hehe :)
