njitpimp
Well, I have a very close female friend who was born in Rio. I'll try to ask her but she lived there when she was real young so she might not know any good night spots. But, I'm pretty sure you're gonna have to know portuguese, not Spanish. entao25
In Brazil they speak Brazilian Portugese, but understand European Portugese. They not not understand Spanish that well. The pronunciation alone is way off.My name, entao, is Euro Portugese for And Then? (lol-No and then!) But in slang entao means what's up?You might have some problems but it is a tourism place so there will be some English speakers.

barvybe
Brazilian Portuguese is fucked UP!! They won't understand spanish in Rio and barely Euro portuguese. LOTS of english speaker thou - specially at hotels and the younger crowd.Rio is mad cool. in the beach area, the Leblon side of the beach is much nicer than the Cococabana side. And at night is much much safer. I wouldn't let your lady walk around alone though at night - u gotta be careful. There's a nightclub / restaurant that is HOT (or was last year) called Noche (i think) that is inland from the beach like 20 minutes. Also, the beach south of the city is much better than the beach right in the city.See if Skol Beats tour is in town when u are there. HUGE outdoor raves with great DJ's. Buzios is mad cool and more upscale than Rio. U may want to stay out there for a couple nights. (its not that close to the city)I hate the BEST time down there Here's all u need to know for the beach: "Uma estupidamenche gelato por favor!"
