---"cheesy crappy music" can also be considered just as "boring" and "repetitous"...

---anyone can ingest commercial sounds (aka "entry level")... it's obviously produced specifically for that purpose... but it takes a higher understanding to appreciate dnb... although i will admit i have my share of cheeze now and then...

---its all a matter of taste... (or understanding for that matter...)

agreed, to each their own, bla bla bla bla bla

i would not say platinum is as cheesy as it gets...there is much more velveeta out there

and i dont believe in the concept that if muzik is underground it is necessarily "better" than other muzik......some muzik that is underground should remain underground because it is horrible

the whole concept of the "underground" to me is bullshit...its used by self-inflating egoists who think that because they dress poorly and dance to songs that arent on the radio they are keeping it real

keeping it real means being true to yourself...if you like cheesy muzik, admit it......remember...as DT says "be yourself"

- u must admit tho... platinum is pretty cheesy... hey, theyre just followin the jersey rules... and they def adhere to em...

- "better" is def a term in reference to personal judgement and tastes... but when you put certain things in comparison, some things are just obvious.. for example... britney and sade... britney: great tits, i mean taste, less filling, upbeat and fun.. sade: slow, maybe even sappy, but incredibly profound soulful romantic... different, yes; better? depends if ur talkin to a 12 year old or not...

...or in dj terms... hawtin and vicious... its almost humorous

- dressing poorly has nothing to do with the appreciation of good music... it wouldnt be all about the music then, huh... is ones concern about the superficial image 'keeping it real' =OP

- tangent:: ego is not bad, its the center of the Self; the alternative is a selfless existence for the sake of others...

- "underground" has nothing to do with fashion or ego... just means that it is not as commercialized or glamourized as the other stuff...

-

nothing is all about anything....the only time you can say "its all about music" is when you are sitting in your room alone, listening to it...as soon as you enter a club, no matter where, it becomes about the music, the vibe, etc

- tangent: the statement "nothing is all about anything" is false... it defies the law of identity...

- but u missed my point...

- when i do go out to any venue, (unless i had some sort of social obligation), i go because of the music thats playing... a pretty space doesnt impress me much, but a dj who is playing some kick ass beats and a crowd that is in love with the Music... that is something worth investing time into... granted the whole dj thing is a socially based idea, but if i had my own personal dj in my room playin stuff that i luv, id stay and listen to him/her (and ive had my share of sunrise dj sessions--NOS)... it is about the music...

You know why many people love "underground" music? It's because it's pure...it hasn't been soiled by commercialism and money. And to these people, it is about the music. They like that music untouched, and they like it underground because they listen to it or experience it in its simplest form. There are no strings attached...no attitudes...no glamour...just good music. True, some underground music is horrible, but it's just as true for commercial music. And people who listen to underground music don't necessarily dress poorly. The majority of them don't feel they need to dress to impress because they are there for the music alone. As for "keeping it real," the underground crowd feel they keep it real because they're there for the music. It's as simple as that. Music, without all those strings attached, is as real as you can get.
