That's a trick question really. I would say C, D, F, E, A, F, but the crowd (and whether friends are there) is really going to be a function of what DJs you have, what sound system you have, what lighting you have, what the dress code is, how much drinks cost, how much cover is, club layout, etc etc. You can't bring in Draper as the DJ and expect a classy crowd, can't bring in no-names and expect people who just get into the music, and you can't bring in Junior and expect a straight flirty crowd. But cheap drinks would be a really cool change...

2. How much would you be willing to spend for entrance given a good talent DJ / one that you liked was spinning?

(a) $10 - $15

(B) $15 - $30

Depends on how much money I have. Top DJs of the genre I like are rare around these parts and I'm sure I'd fork over $30 to see some of em.

3. How old are you?

(a) 18 - 23

(B) 24 - 30

23; Groupings here would be much more apprropriate to do 18-20, then 21-23 so that way you can filter between the drinking and (supposedly) non-drinking crowds

4. What university did you attend?

U of South Florida undergrad, NYU law

5. What is your current occupation?

Student, STILL...; lawyer starting this summer

6. What do you think is lacking in the New York clubs at the moment?

Someplace that feels like a home; a CLUB with a breaks weekly (possibly even flying in DJs...); someplace where I can listen to good music without feeling like I'm in a hollowed out warehouse; a night somewhere where it's stiff cover and cheap cheap drinks - I could deal with a $20 cover to hear no-name DJs (so long as they're not crap or trance) if the drinks are only a dollar...

And a quick bitch - Why does NYC have to screw up stuff so much with its liquor regulations? Not only is it illegal to have sink-or-swim nights (ah reminiscing at the days of listening Gemini, Santana, and Sandy spin the same records every week while getting loaded for $7), but the cost of maintaining a liquor license with a cabaret license is so expensive...

Eh whatever.

BTW, is this for some kind of project or something???

I was looking through your posts, and I'm assuming you're a promoter at Avalon....is the ownership over there thinking about jumping into the NYC market? There seems to be a trickle of big clubs trying to take the place of Twilo (and on a lesser note Tunnel), although Bananabana seems to be a no-go and I haven't heard anything about the Crobar situation in a few weeks...

1) c, a, d, f, b, e

2) b, but would go c for special occasions: rare extended dj sets or killer combos (like cox/hawtin)

3) c

4) columbia

5) grad student, programmer at finance company

6) a large space which can handle international caliber talent without turning into a sardine can or sauna, and with plenty of chillout space.

rob

Respect and Class... everyone (or I should say most) think they are above everyone else. Pushing around, and having major attitudes seems to be a requirement. I mean I do it to, you have to if your gonna survive a night out. I hate to put it that way but try getting drink being the nice girl... you'll continually get shoved out of the way. As for class, well that is a whole different story.
