I confess...I confess...I am a cardio-nut and I smoke... I do..and there is a great league at Amsterdam Billiards, you play 8 ball and 9 ball. They put 4 people on a team..and your team plays other teams..Can win prizes too. You don't even have to be good, the first time I did it..I had never played in my life. Just mentioning this because the fall league signup is on monday evening (I think you can do it by phone too)It really is alot of fun, I met all kinda of nice people, one of which even got me a job. Its one night a week (you pick)$35 to join and $12 each week. Sometimes you see famous people playing next to ya..that's always fun too . I'm happy to say there has already been 2 remixes of songs by my fav bands...Suede (flow) and Stone Roses (fool's gold). Actually the Fool's gold thing is kinda funny because besides the grooverider re-mix, Run-DMC also sampled it in one of their raa songs... I really..REEEEALY want to hear more remixes of Depeche Mode songs...ooh..how about Somebody..or even black celebration...ok..I have to stop..i'm getting the chills thinking about it... Also..there was this band from PA I used to love called The Ocean Blue..one of their songs would make an incredible trance remix.. 3 more good spots....Weehawken..right on the water and 15 min to manhattan..lotta young people there too...and it is very clean and neighborhoodish there.... or...fort lee/edgewater....some amazing places on the water there too....very clean and very modern around there.... I am not a sappy person at all...but the few songs that will literally put me to tears are... I live in Jersey City, and there are many nice young professionals around, with more to come because like half of Chase Bank is moving there. The Newport-Pavonia (first PATH stop) area has many luxury high rise buildings that are insane...then the next PATH stop is the Grove Street area, which has many streets with beautiful brownstones, and many old factory buildings that were turned into loft apts..more like an artsy area...I know within the next year, it will be impossible to find a place around there. This is the area I'm in..2 blocks to the PATH which takes 10-15 mins to get to work...so I can literally leave at 8:30 to be in at 9. I was a major factoryhead in 98'...when JP used to bombard us with hours of the most incredible techno imports I have ever heard...I still have tapes from back then and I almost get a tear in my eye when I take em out... He doesn't play that anymore..therefore I probably will not go again.
