  1. do nottttttttt live around bleecker and thompson - at least not anywhere near bleecker. I did for 2 yrs back in college and its a messss, tourist drunken trap, -- even 4 or 5 blocks west or east is cheaper and much more calm/nice/relaxed /homey. I lived on Hudson - further west- and on 13/5 - and both were 100x better than thomp/bleecker. GO a little out of the way and prices drop - the closer to 5th ave and Broadway you are, the higher the price Look on craigslist.com - apartment section - sublets and no fee apts have updates every minute w/ some good shit. The ideal thing is to find an unfurnished sublet from owners directly - no fees, usually cheaper, no horrific approval/requirements, and a lot of times only first / security upfront. I found my last 4 apts through that and all were great - so easy/cheap/quick and many times muchhhhhhhh easier to leave early than a regular place GL!
  2. Well - its great for a lot of reasons but bad for others - it's also VERY hard for a die hard NY'er (esp after living in Manhattan forever) to live here after all that - though the sad state of clubs in NY and the $$$$$$$$$ (plus the WINTER) are 3 reasons enough I'm glad to be here Plus that fact that I'm unexpectedly playing housewife haha. It's really about timing - leaving NY for a year or so to take time away is the best thing a NY'er can do - just has to be the right time w/ the right goals (or ideas and the right person/people. Of course things always change once you leave - but its hard right when you move, esp if you're really social.......
  3. Actually decided not to move back to NYC Couple of good things started up down here and can't brave another winter!!!! Thanks tho!
  4. I'm not sure where any one person gets the right to determine what any school (any THING for that matter) is to EVERYONE --- didn't we learn in kindergarten that everyone is different and that's a GOOD thing? Talk to a group of people from ANY school-company-club-organized anything - and you'll get 100 different opinions....and each are valid, and 'right' for that person, and can't be argued. Sure we can all contemplate things like value - but again it's different for every person... I think a $1000 purse is insane, but I have a friend who worked her ass off and bought one she'd been dying for forever, and it means so much to her (both the item, and her EARNING it)....That makes her as happy as a trip I might take for that same $1000 she thinks is a WASTE. Point being , value is determined by us as individuals, who we are, what we've been through/love/work for/care about and what makes us I was a clubkid at 15, diagnosed w/ ADD, almost dropped out of HS, barely passed Junior year, was at Tunnel and Limelight 4 times a week etc etc......Parents almost gave up on me.... One day I took a trip to NYU ......I fell in love with it, the city ,the area, the bustle, the writing/communications program my mom took me to learn about........ EVERYTHING....... from that day on I worked my ASS off...graduated HS EARLY - went to Manahattanville college....got 12 college credits to help my weak HS record....applied to NYU - got rejected- went to Syracuse for a year... got 4.0's my freshman year at Syracuse and GOT IN for my Sophmore year. The first concrete success for me was NYU, after 3 applications, 2 other colleges, and more concentration and determination than I'd ever had in my LIFE. It all stemmed from my trip to NYU And the goal that it gave me. EVERYONE has something that pushes them to do good, that in itself is 'priceless' - furthest thing from 'overpriced and tacky' IMO...... I FULLY understand that many others at NYU hate/hated it, wasted their time there, but to ME and my experience, it meant a lot. My story can happen at ANY school, at any level, but if it DOES happen at someplace like NYU, it's just as valid - it shouldn't be discredited b/c it's expensive etc..... I graduated with a Bachelors from NYU a few years ago, and to this day I look at my diploma every day and feel so proud... It's been my biggest achievement and worth every penny to me. Who is anyone to tell me (or anyone else w/ a similar story) that NYU is OVERPRICED AND TACKY? I may not agree w/ the $ and things people do/spend but I respect their right to do it and enjoy it ....Even CALLING NYU that is tacky IMO Respect people's right to enjoy what they enjoy and concentrate on finding something like that for yourself! Today that NYU degree has helped in so many ways, some more genuine than others (as with everything) but has been such a base for me to progress from.......And a lot of people I know feel the same way, some worked every night to pay for it, some had every cent paid for them, some owe a shitload....but the feeling of accomplishment and education to many exists regardless of the $ aspect.........In the same respect, talking down to a C.College is just as wrong - not everyone can get to /afford a higher ranked school, and true some idiots graduate from Harvard and brilliant ppl graduate from CC's or dont graduate at all .....its not WHERE you go, its HOW you go through it.....and what you get FROM it........if you're a complete asshole, the word HARVARD on your resume can't hide that from a potential boss, or a partner etc.... and if you're brilliant and hardworking/talented, a CC won't hide that either.... Sorry to ramble on but had to offer my 16 cents
  5. Factory on 27th Tunnel w/ JR Arena @ Palladium Specific night: Last weekend of ARENA. mmmmemories
  6. Sobe you are totally right. I went in 2001 for an entire MONTH - yes, month, September (over the 11th!) I spent $1000 for a good hotel ($500 each / 2 of us, and the room could have been shared by 3) PERFECT location, clean, nice room with HUGE patio, kitchen, sofa, 2 full beds, TOP floor - and 10 min walk to Ibizatown and the other way to Space . And $700 for the ticket, granted it was booked in advance, but even closer to the departure date you can get ok deals..... Girls- very easy to get comps/reduced/walked into places/ european guys are generous too - plus for 'favors' you find a good guy in Ibizatown and pay NOTHING for a lot - and theyre there every night. Food is CHEAP - a gourmet meal for 2 $40? Would have been $250 in NYC! Overall I spent under $2000 for a month - and they're charging 2000 for a week! Its so easy to do the planning yourself and half the fun is wandering around meeting people and plannign last minute where you want to go . Not all parties are pre arranged, so you want the flexibility to do whatever you want each night. Anyone want that good hotel recommendation, email me Have fun!

  19. Hi - Does anyone know of any furnished apartment rentals in SoBe or even long stay hotel rentals that have rates by the week or month? The few we know are a little shady .......We're looking to spend around $1500/month Thanks!!! MissDiva19@aol.com
  20. I apologize for bringing the mood down but just wanted to share something with you guys....... This past Sunday morning my x was killed, exactly one year to the day after I met him. I spent 3 hours at the wake holding his mothers hand while she asked me why; my other hand on his coffin, and my entire outlook on life completely changed in that instant. Please, don't spend your energy wondering why and what could have been different or what made you feel the way you do or why you made the mistakes you did. Take every ounce of positive energy and memories and make that what you remember and learn from the rest, life is TOO SHORT TO DO ANY DIFFERENT To sit next to the coffin of someone you loved and not have another minute with them is unreal. Say everything and anything good you have to the people around you NOW , not tomorow, and dont ever give up on people you love. Sorry again for being so R This was him being his typical silly self- in the middle of the dancefloor at Factory , 9am, in his Chef school uniform....
  21. we went for a month last year (I work for myself, thank god!) 28 nights to be exact, RIGHT over september11th! I was on the beach at Mambo Cafe drinking sangria the day it happened. We went to the internet cafes and read the times online to get into, everyone was imi'ng us bugging out. Really weird, but I guess theres nowhere else I'd rather be during that! Stay halfway between Space and Ibiza town - then you're within walking distance to both. We walked EVERYWHERE. Its a waste to go for a week! Figure you spend the same airfare whether you're there for a week or 3 months so why not extend the trip - our hotel was $40 a night and a HUGE studio with a hugeee terrace and kitchen! Split 2,3 ,4 ways ,extending it 5 or 6 nights is not a lot, and you can actually relax and not have to be mangled and running around 24 7 . We'd go out 2-3 nights then take a night off. You learn a lot from the people too, you don't even realize it at the time..How people think from different backgrounds and cultures and just the way people live...Really is a good placet o clear your head and the Europeans are so much more relaxed, positive and friendly! Its CRAZY being in nyc thinking about all that going on. I wanted to stay there for the entire summer but at some point it just gets ridiculous and you definitely could get lost in it all!!! 3 weeks would have been perfect. The closing parties are the best week to go - just plan around your fav. dj's. Space/Pacha/Amnesia/Manumission closing .....
  22. DONT GET THOSE PACKAGES unless you have $ to burn and dont want to bother making your arrangements. We went for 26 nights ! last year and spent LESS than those packages for 8-10 nights. We did research and found some great hotels for $40-$60 a night TOTAL (dep on # of people) and airfare is around $800 - 950. And we chose the exact nights we wanted ......DONT go mid summer - its way too hot and jam packed w/ europeans - go either for the opening parties at the begining of the summer or in september (when we went) EVERYTHING is cheaper starting Sept 1'st - hotels, food, clothing. and its not as hot. the closing parties are usually from around Sept 5 - 20th. I'm not sure what the CP package is but that Bring it on thing is crap...anyone have any ?'s feel free to email me R
  23. Been to: Spain (Ibiza, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Granada, etc) Portugal Egypt Africa (Morocco) Israel London Italy Guys - there IS A way to do Ibiza inexpensively (or, less exp than you all think) just do some work/research & trust me it can be done. We spent SO LITTLE and were there for just under a full MONTH....... Next: Greece Japan/Thailand/China Amsterdam/Germany/ Australia Something exotic & romantic w/ the one I <3 My parents are going to ALASKA ! LOL
