I recently dj'd some after prom parties there in the summer. It's a great space with a serious sound and light system for a club that's not doing well or even heard of (Hats off to my man Ralph Hoffmann, the sound guy there). I think the fact that it's on West 33rd Street right near the Javits Center (shitty location) has a lot to do with the fact that nothing goes on there. I just don't get it! What the hell is wrong with these clubs?? What are they thinking?? Don't promoters and owners screen their djs before they let them play for crowds of 800-1000+?? I mean I went out last night...I'm not going to say where b/c I don't want to insult anybody, but it's pretty obvious b/c there are limited things you can do on a Monday night. The dj was playing to a packed house and just could not mix his house at all. He couldn't even keep 2 copies of the SAME RECORD onbeat properly!!! And forget about his hip hop. One fast tempo upbeat song, and then one old slow tempo downbeat song that didn't even go with the one that was before it, in a repetitive cycle! WTF is going on here?? The other day I was at the record store and this one guy who djs at another big club here in NYC, main room, comes in and starts asking for records that are like 8 months old and he didn't even know them by name. And he wasn't buying them for the second time or anything. He never owned these records!!! How do these guys get spots??? ------------------ This Friday!!!
