angel is nice...long and narrow, kinda really cramped around the bar...didnt like

Fuel is a mix of ex nyu'er and some locals...has a bar, and a big lounge room. pretty big...its ok i guess

trust is depending on the night...sometimes u get the meatpackign crowd sometimes u dont. the spot is nice, but def. stuffy.

Fuelray and Onyx neva been to. stay between aves 1 - C and you'll have a good time.

oh u may like Pioneer..its a decent pickup bar...but not really a place to lounge...

if you're gunna be on the west side,

The Park (10th ave bet 17th and 18th) is a nice place to eat.

    then

Open Bar (on 11th ave and 22nd) is a chill pre-game for crobar/spirit

Neither of these are swanky in the least, but both have beautiful people.

We are terribly sorry to announce that this year’s Loveparade will not be celebrated. Due to a lack of financial resources – and only three months remaining to get this straight – there is no other way but to cancel Loveparade Berlin 2004.

Ever since the Loveparade lost its status as a demonstration in 2001, constant financial losses were the case. Until 2002, these losses were paid for with our own savings. The main reason for these losses were the high production costs, which resulted from its new status as a regular event. These additional costs added up to more than 900,000€.

The general business situation remaining over the last years has not only affected Loveparade itself, but also a great many of our partners (in the advertising, TV, and record industries), which added to our bad financial situation.

In 2003 it was the support of Messe Berlin who helped out with the necessary budget. Nevertheless, this year’s conferences with the Berliner Senat and the Messegesellschaft did NOT end with a financial solution for the Loveparade even though we had tried to cut all possible costs.

Furthermore we thought about financing the event with tickets, but we eventually came up with the decision that this would be the wrong thing to do: It would turn the initial ideas of Loveparade as an “event open to anyone†upside down.

We are planning to meet in the near future in order to discuss our next steps and the conditions which could make future Loveparades possible.

After the third Loveparade Mexico City took place in March (with round about 250,000 visitors), the FIRST San Francisico Loveparade is due on September 25. Furthermore, Tel Aviv will celebrate its sixth Loveparade on August 27.

    Figures:

Estimated number of visitors over the last years

    2001: 1.000.000

    2002: 750.000

    2003: 750.000

Production cost at the time Loveparade was still an official demonstration (2000): 301.700€

Production cost of Loveparade as regular event (2003): 1.225.000€

    Business Figures on Loveparade:

The only reliable study on this topic was done by FfH. They found out that the 500,000 visitors of Loveparade 2000 spent some 50 Mio. € in Berlin. This amount of money can be considered an additional profit. The study bases these figures on the the assumption that each visitor (only those who don’t live in Berlin) spent circa 125 €, 23% of which were spent on luxury items, 21% on "Shopping", 18% on Clubs, Museums, etc., and 10,2 % for accomodation. At this point the parade was free of charge for visitors.

ok, here's the scoop for anyone interested.

I talked to the designer just now. Place is called Ruby Falls. It has gotten no press yet to my knowledge, and is relatively secret.

Space is very nice. All white. Large center bar, with an elevated stage. 40' High ceilings with a skylight center. To me looks like can fit 450-500 ppl. The designer said it will double as an art space, and cocktail lounge/nightclub in the evenings. I believe they are trying to attract a more local crowd, and will shy away from club crowd. Most likly a crowd like that of Glass.

    No tentative open date.

nah man, this place is new, still in final reno phase. walk all the way down 29th past 11th ave, towards the middle of the street. (literally in the middle of nowhere)

the place looks VERY nice. even the ceilings are finished with a wood type surface. (and not the typical piping industrial etc) I am under the impression that this will be a private club, since the location and the decorum. I will ask the contractor today, but he prob doesn't know anything.

haha, I remember getting that one issue of Xtreme Groove too. I believe it was published by the label Xtreme Records, but never got another issue.

I also get an industry mag called Club Systems which is pretty cool, but not really what I am looking for...

    any more suggestions?

yup, I agree musikchik. I've read both of those before.

Here are some others I am using:

BigShot, KnowledgeMag, BPM, Res, Index, Metro

still looking for more...especially those limited circulation magazines..

guess what.........they messed with the article....alot of what was reported was changed and misquoted....like the granade part!

I agree. I've been involved with a 2yr federal case that was reported in the papers, and the media only reported one side of the issue. They Do NOT by any circumstances discuss the whole story. Anything to help them sell papers. where the journalists at to confirm?

  15. hey all,

doing a study on behavior and need some help...what are some of the lifestyle magazines relating to the club/urban scene that everyone reads. I am more interested in some of the smaller subculture ones, but the majors are welcome too..

    for example club

    Spin, Mixmag, XLRated

    Urban

    Urb, Vice, Complex, Vapors, Thrasher

    send em on...thanx-Paul

  16. it is usally done by a ripping group. you will notice a "-xxx" after a song when u download. those are groups. for example -1real i believe does alot of the essential mixes. No purpose in you doing it (unless for youself) b/c someone from a major group is doing it already and posting it asap. then it will trickle down to slsk.
