  1. Yeah I went there to check out their stuff, it's all super old. SAE on West 40th st or whatever is much better. I think they even have the SSL G+ mixing board. (not as nice as the J, but it's way sweeter than whatever IAR has.. some antique thing from the '80s!!) I don't know.. I haven't actually visited SAE, so I don't know, but I've heard their equipment is better. That says nothing about the teaching style of either school though, and i'm not sure if you can take single classes there. Call for more info or visit their websites. 9. You guys should check out http://www.techtv.com/bigthinkers/features/story/0,23008,3333508,00.html for an article on Michio Kaku and string theory. Firstly, TechTV is the fucking BOMB, secondly, this was a really interesting show if they re-air it or if you can view it in their achives you should check it out. Michio Kaku built an atom smasher in his basement when he was in high school. 'Nuff said, the guy is a genius. Cara

  15. What's up, guys, just wanted to let you know that SFX Concerts is giving away a pair of tickets to see Brazilian bossa nova chanteuse Bebel Gilberto. She has collaborated with the London-based producers Smoke City, as well as New York's Thievery Corporation and the Beastie Boys' Mario C. Bebel has worked on projects by David Byrne, Arto Lindsay and DJ Towa Tei (of Dee-Lite), and has been singlehandedly reinventing bossa nova by mixing the styles she learned from her parents (bossa nova inventor Joao Gilberto and Brazilian songstress Miucha) with modern sample-based grooves and beats on the subdued electronica tip. To enter SFX’s ticket giveaway contest, or to find out about how you can see her this week in a city near you, visit: http://promo.sfx.com/contest/bebel/
  16. Hi guys, We've got an interview with Dieselboy and one with Mocean Worker coming up, and we'd like to know what kinds of things YOU'd like to find out about from these two incredible artists. Email your questions to cara@clubplanet.com and we'll ask them at our upcoming interviews which will be posted on the site soon along with contests and other fun stuff. Much love from the clubplanet crew, Cara
  17. www.sisterdjs.com a mailinglist for female DJs, great resource for girls to talk in a non-intimidating environment about any DJ-related concerns (what is a reliable tape-dubbing company, how do i write a contract for a gig, etc etc.)
  18. assuming you're talking about the top-fifteen types, they've got incredible DJ skills, luxury hotel rooms, first-class seats on all their flights, everything is paid-for and arranged, all they have to do is bring records, headphones and their hands. yeah, all the travel time is taxing on the body i'm sure, but the money prolly makes up for it, and the joy of playing your music to a crowd that's going nuts over your tracks.
  19. your friends might never talk to you again after a night with that combo... could be trouble.
  20. Pomona College (part of the Claremont College consortium) in sunny Southern California.
