  1. By the way, I know there are a lot of hardcore SF fans here (and same applies to Twilo, Vinyl, etc). So before any of you get offended: note that being a fan so hardcore that you cannot take any criticism is just plain silly. Besides, diversity is key to enjoying everything. So don't get upset if SF gets ripped up in this thread.
  2. Cox was out of control at Twilo last night. Wasn't much on the techno side, mostly dark house, but it ROCKED!
  3. Serena is always cool, sometimes a little too snobby though. Leopard Lounge used to be good back in the spring... dunno about now. Church Lounge is okay for a starter, but closes early.
  4. Another idea is to use it for 5 days, then take the weekend off, and do it again. There'd been much discussion whether it works better when taken in conjunction with aspirin; I'd say "yea" but please do not give yourself an ulcer.
  5. Damn, I miss that sooooo much... I haven't been to Twilo in a while, been going to lounges and such, trying to clean up.... but screw it, I'm DUE!
  6. Once I witnessed the absolute, positive, most definite, without a doubt, uber-classic New York-style case of construction worker women-hooting action. It was such a classic that everyone on the street, including myself, the woman, other pedestrians, and the construction workers themselves, was laughing their chops off. It happened on 43rd Street between 7th and 8th, and the woman walked out of Ford Theatre all dressed up 30's style - must have been somehow involved in the show. So she's walking west, passing some construction dudes, and... well you could just see it on her face that she knew they're going to do it. There was no way they weren't gonna - she's wearing a cute white hat with a flower in it and everything, and she's beginning to laugh already. And the workers seemed stunned themselves, hesitated for a moment, and then they just went for it. I tell ya, it was SO funny! It was totally harmless, she even turned around and waved at them, and everyone just started cracking up... I guess that this is a case of "you had to be there" humour, but... to me that was another reminder that NYC is like no other place in the world!
  7. let's see... one fine tuesday i was planning to have a quiet evening at home, but life had other plans - went to lulu's, ended up dropping there (ok, so one had to really twist my arm), and moved on to spa. planned to leave by 3, but the music kept on getting better, so stayed until 5 or whatever. went home and totally zonked out for exactly two hours (like someone flipped the switch off and then back on), woke up and went to work, still buzzing and rolling. most of the day there i just sat with headphones on, listened to tall paul, and surfed the web... it was the best wednesday at work i've ever had!
  8. Slightly off-topic, but somewhat related: can't really recall myself or my friends going to clubs with their significant others. Maybe I'm weird, but I have more fun when I'm with people who will never be upset by the most retarded, juvenile, self-embarrassing behaviour that I choose to indulge in. I specifically to go clubbing with girls whom I'm friends-only with and always have a blast.
  9. How's Centro-Fly these days? I haven't been since it turned into a big long island cheesefest over the summer, but in the spring it used to rock. Morillo's the bomb. I'm waiting for Manhattanites to get back from their vacations and start going there again.
  10. addition: The word "yous" is a standard item of your vocabulary
  11. Well, that's what this forum is for! That, and AOL instant messenger.
  12. Um, yes, considering CD's like Additive 3, Sasha/Ibiza, John Digweed/Hong Kong, Dave Seaman/Cape Town, DJ Messiah/ETM, S&JD/Communicate, as well as many others (write for suggestions). Besides, I think that Trance Nation isn't really Trance. It's more like pop.
  13. That's exactly why I think it's not even worth going to clubs before 2 or 3 - when the drunk people get tired and leave. Before then it's cool to hit a lounge or something...
  14. I'm more than happy to hang on people when I roll, but there's no issues with controlling yourself. I can't really imagine someone rolling being hard to shake off. E+G is a different story though - I've seen the combo in action and it's quite freaky.
  15. Well... did you hook up? :-p I seem to do all of the opposite - dance like it's going out of style and seemingly forget about the girls. Unsure whether my way is better than yours... in fact I'm quite willing to do what you've described instead...
  16. This is kind of funny... I used to work for Maxim (the website) and saw some pre-airbrushed/pre-touched-up pictures. That was quite interesting. Photoshop was king there.
  17. DJ Messiah - Enter the Millenium - a trance thing OR GU015 Darren Emerson - if there's still some lounging action going on...
  18. Dan Duchaine was the first to publish an adaptation of Atkins' diet specifically for bodybuilders, calling it BodyOpus. Lyle has done much more research on it and wrote a book on it too, much more scientifically-based (500+ references), and covering other topics such as exercise in general. Highly recommended - try Amazon.com (no, I don't get any royalties). Besides, muscle weighs more than fat while taking up less space and looking better. I had planned to be a personal trainer myself, studied and everything, and then somehow got carried away with this internet thing...
  19. I have Members of X and Awake, and also heard him play in Shadow Lounge. Shadow Lounge rocked out of control. His CDs are a little subdued though.
  20. Do read the cover story, about RU-486, also. It's complete utterly disgusting political bullshit.
  21. I spent about a month staying with a friend who lived next door to Twirl, and I could never figure out what the deal with that place was. Saw some strange characters trying to get in and get rejected, bunches of preppy gappy upper east siders, etc. Anyone been there?
  22. I agree with most everything you've said, just wanted to add something - the most effective kind of cardio is intervals (aka HIIT, high intensity interval training). In other words, sprint-chill-sprint-chill (or equivalent on whichever machine you're using). Won't go into details on how and why, but it works much better. Just look at sprinters vs. marathon runners - sprinters have vastly better bodies, in my opinion. By the way, have you ever heard of Lyle McDonald and his ketogenic diet book? Or how about Dan Duchaine and his BodyOpus?
  23. Nikki's cafe is an AWESOME Sunday party. People start getting there at about 4pm, and it gets cooking by about 6 or 7. Just people chilling, dancing, schmoozing, and otherwise, all in as little clothing as possible. The door policy is really bitchy, but the upside is that the crowd inside is hot. By the way, not to beat the dead horse again, but... what's the big deal about naked people in clubs? I lived in South Beach for four years and seen it many more than once.
  24. I've never gone there before 2 so I don't know what it's like before then, but at that time they're quite eager to let in people who appear normal (i.e., aren't drunk off their ass but are doing "the other thing"). Always had girls in my company though. Across the street from Recess - Sway - now that's attitude galore.
  25. I'm not inviting myself, just suggesting - Recess is a cool place to start; so is Church Lounge if you're looking for something more stylish; from there check out Jet Lounge (Spring & Varick) and then it may be time to move on to some place bigger and meaner.
