  1. #1...I aint your fuckin son..so lets chill with the bullshit SON. Secondly, in terms of my reference to JP as king of NY...I am clearly talking about a DJ who has a night/residency in a club. Your boy from down the street who throws you mix tapes might be insane..but to me he doesn't mean shit. #2..if you want to talk about music with me...I will be happy to take 5 minutes of my time and put you to shame. Have you had the pleasure of going to London, Germany, Isreal, and France to really see what MUSIC is all about. I doubt that..probably limited to your Brooklyn block. No arguments meant to be started..just looking for some insight into who everyone thinks is the MAN/WOMAN around here..
  2. True..their styles are obvioulsy different..I'm more interested to know which of the two (or any other) DJ has moved you the most..meaning gives you a feeling that you are in something more than a club. NO drugs are required at Oakenfold.. IMO He is a fuckin rock star and makes going to his shows an incredible experience..the way that he gets involved with the crowd and makes you hang on every single song..
  3. I'm sure many of you have experienced the magic of an Oakie set at Roxy, Roseland, etc. Not to take any thing away from JP (who is definitely king of NY)..but who do you guys think is better...please tell any of your choices for best DJ that has recently blazed NYC..
  4. ATF... I understand your point about Factory and JP. I must say that Factory was a huge part of my life for 3 years..I went nearly every week and now I go once and a while..the scene has def. gone downhill a bit recently. Anyway, I just want to point out that PVD, Sasha, etc wouldn't set foot in the Factory. Europe is where this movement started and although drugs are a big part of the scene there too, these DJ's play for crowds that strictly come for the mucic. I myself go to SF for the music..but that is not majority of the people there (regardless of what they say..beleive me, I know just about all of the "regulars" ) What I'm saying is that the way NYC club scene is like nowadays, we will never have a resident DJ like PVD EVER..we must clean up our act if we want the REAL club experience..that's why TWILO on Friday's is often the best. Check out Pete Tong on October 6th @ Twilo to see what I'm talking about. I don't mean to preach and this is not directed totally at you...but if everyone who thinks they know what a club is because they haven't gotten outta Brooklyn long enough to get past 46th Street bet. 11/12 then there is a lot to be learned. Until next time when Oakie hits the Roxy again (he is a true Rock Star)..we will have to enjoy JP, for he is not a founder but the best follower that NY has to offer.
  5. If you can get to Queens...check out Andy's House of Sound on Northern Blvd. He's got a shitload of ug tapes and cd's and will also order ANYTHING that you want..he's got mad connects to many dj's and distributors both US and Europe. For the city..you can check out 8ball on 9th Street bet. 3/4..more of a DJ shop (vinyl) but they have some pretty good tapes. Also, Throb (14th bet. 2/3) also a DJ shop..but the cd's/tapes they have are more hard to find ug shit. enjoy
  6. Its called I'll Fly With You and its by Gigi D'Agostino
