  1. "Seb Fontaine - Perfecto Presents Seb Fontaine" he's the perfect drug. - k.
  2. hey, hot as hell down here, but i'm liking it so far. finding the hot clubs seems pretty easy, but finding out who's spinning where isn't. any suggestions on where to find that info? (besides here, of course). thanks, kestrel
  3. yah, you're a regular nightlife "Gandhi". you post a message and do not identify yourself as a promoter, intentionally misleading us into thinking you're a regular forum member with no particular agenda. you don't take the time to verify that your information is accurate, wasting the time of almost 750 people who've read this thread so far. you don't bother to spend any time checking the spelling of those top-quality DJs you think so highly of, so i'm sure you won't mind if we refer to you as TommyNJ from now on. nor did you spend any time learning the basics of internet communication, insulting those who did and offending the purists here by typing your message in all caps - the standard internet method of indicating that you're YELLING at the reader. and yet, you think nothing of asking us to spend time documenting our thoughts and opinions, an exercise that primarily benefits you. after you're fingered, you attempt to justify your actions by saying you were all about helping the paying customers. tell me, would those be the same paying customers you ridiculed in your post as teenyboppers who wouldn't know their ass from their elbow about music? while i'm sure your description of Exit's usual clientele will help the regulars by thinning out the crowd, i'm not so sure that kind of elitist arrogance is what management had in mind. <ahem> then again, i could be wrong. most of the people here seem quite capable of recognizing a favor without any assistance, thank you, but it appears you might be in need of a little help in that area. your agent(s) use these forums on a regular basis to harvest valuable information that, under any other circumstances, would cost you considerable time and money to obtain - information which you get here willingly and for free by favor of the membership. you also use these discussion boards to regularly advertise events to your prime target audience - a level of exposure i doubt you'd get anyplace else, regardless of cost - and which you receive here for free or relatively low cost. an intolerable practice, IMO, but one that persists by favor of the membership. i can assure you that none of us bought our computers or modems for the use of advertisers, but just as we keep you in business by doing you the favor of going to your club, we support these forums by our acceptance of an endless stream of unsolicited advertising and junk email, which we provide for by paying our access fees every month. in return, club owners provide a place where we can pay to exercise our passion for DJs and dance music, offering us nominal (if any) discounts, guest lists that close hours before prime time, inflated prices and long lines that end in demeaning, self-serving door policies. your promoter publicly insults your customers--many of whom are reading this thread--and he does so without reprimand. he uses deceptive practices in order to advance his personal interests and those of your club--which you not only endorse, you actually encourage by criticizing us for taking offense at our time being wasted, at being insulted, and incredibly, for failing to recognize that this attempt to dupe us was somehow to our benefit! you would be mistaken to underestimate our intelligence, the value of our loyalty, or the price of our favor. considering the current pedestrian state of NYC clubbing, it wouldn't take much to make the glow-in-the-dark, fluorescent pins and balls, dance music, mirror balls, and fog machine at the Kiwanis Cosmic Bowl-A-Rama the next big friday night thing. - kestrel slipping on her glitter bowling shoes, just in case....
  4. sounds as if philly treated this guy just like he deserved. "monsterguido". heh. - k.
  5. Well... after the interview and evening gown segments, i thought we could each do our special talent, and then wind the whole thing up with a... <squeal> fabulous swimsuit competition!! that being said, what can i do to improve the philly club scene? hmm... learn to juggle. make it a personal mission to cleanse the city of every known Tilt remix. start a fund to help our local DJs get the equipment and experience they need to provide us with world-class mixes. decorate shoeboxes like little turntables and leave at club entrances with the message: "Every day, our local DJs suffer the indignity of drinking cheap vodka and shopping at the dollar store just so they can afford some decent rekkids. This suffering does not have to continue! You can help! For a daily gift of only $25, you'll receive a picture of your DJ-In-Training at a recent party in Ibiza, Amsterdam or London. Imagine how great it will feel knowing you paid for those designer togs and essential party favors! You'll get a monthly newsletter telling you about all the fabulous places she's been and what shopping he's done. You'll also get a health report from her personal trainer and a detailed purchase list from his dealer. Get out your checkbook and stop the insanity now!" promote charity fund by telling the guys on this board who think it says philADelphia that the whole thing was Sean O'Neal's idea. picket the city paper demanding a nightlife editor under 40. 0picket the inquirer demanding a nightlife editor under 80. picket stephen starr period. convince billy and michael weiss's father to adopt me, so i can have my own nightclub, too. lobby for a club-wide ban on spandex. the exception, of course, being shaft fridays at shampoo where it's clearly understood that this is a privilege, not a right. secretly apply identifying stickers to all the "yah, i'm over these guys, but there's nothing else to do" S&D bullshitters who will invariably be overheard at electric factory. double stickers for any mention of twilo. you'll thank me later. and last but not least, i could win the lottery and finally realize my dream of turning the eastern state penitentiary into the adult entertainment complex it was always meant to be. [/list=1] gaack. - kestrel feeling momentarily empowered
  6. to highmay and momadance, you obviously have some pretty strong feelings about what you don't like - exit, for one. i'd be interested to hear what club(s) you do like and why. - kestrel
  7. umm... this board does have a moderator, doesn't it? can ya help us out by keeping the quality up and sending these time-wasting, masturbatory posts back to the black hole they came from? thanks. - kestrel

  9. save your money. the critics are the only ones who give him a good review any more. find more oakie comments/reviews on this thread. - kestrel
  10. i'd say she's a very sad, unhappy child who needs men to validate her self-worth. pitiful, really.
  11. where you get this information? it might look official, but there's too many grammatical errors and incorrect names, titles, etc. to be from a reputable news source. please post the URL. - kestrel
  12. umm... have i just slipped into some kind of a time warp? if you haven't noticed, we left the dark ages about 500 years ago. men created such labels back then (probably the stupid, ugly men who weren't getting any), and have subjected women to their ridiculous double standard ever since. the vast majority of women like sex just as much as men, but are denied that pleasurable right because fearful men continue to apply these absurd labels. so listen up, homeboy, there may be people without character, without scruples or integrity, but there are no sluts. do us all a favor and stop propagating such nonsense. - kestrel
  13. p00h brings up a good point. if the rest of the world's top DJs can still give it up for the crowd all night, what makes oakie think he's so special? i mean, even junior vasquez still spins for 6-7 hours and he's like what? 80 years old or sumtin? <g> if oakie is buying into that "once you get mainstream recognition, you can lay off" crap, he'd better think again. when i go to a concert to see a big name group, they don't play for 20 minutes and have some unknown band play the other 90. and when i go see a movie starring my favorite actor, they're on screen for more than 10 minutes. maybe he thinks his new celebrity entitles him to a bigger chunk of the $100,000 or so a club like Twilo makes in a night. of course he knows the owners will just jack up the admission price so they don't take a loss. this screw the fans mentality is hard to take from a man who's been saying for years that he'll never do that. IMO, it's pretty stoopid to tear through the country on your newly found fame, cheating your fans and burning your reputation at every stop. if he really wants his fame to last, maybe he should consider playing fewer dates and better sets. - kestrel
  14. parachuting, also known as "tadpoling" (because the bulb of powder and rolled up ends resemble a tadpole), has been a long accepted method for swallowing rather than snorting powdered drugs like crank or meth. done correctly, you only need a small corner of a tissue for the powder, and if you take a drink first to wet your mouth, drop the tadpole on the back of your tongue and take another drink it goes down very smoothly. i've been told that crushing a pill reduces the time it would otherwise take for the stomach to digest through the hard "casing" that forms on the surface of the pill when it's made. - kestrel
  15. i've been a fan of oakenfold for a long time. i dig his music and his mixes, but i also admired him for what he stood for. time and time again, he's stated that for him, it's all about the music - not playing the big clubs or the fame and fortune - but about bringing the music to the people. all that seems to have disappeared in the past six months or so. he's still singing that "I do it for love" song to the press, but the theme song for this current tour is more like "Money for nuthin'". submitted for your consideration: tickets for most of his appearances are only available through ticketmaster, making a $25 ticket closer to $35 with fees and surcharges. either he doesn't care that his fans are getting ripped off or he's party to the rip off. he released *ten* CDs this year, the majority with a price tag of $25 to $35. Compare that to Sasha & Digweed's one release, the double CD Communique, which sold for $16.95. he headlines at an advertised 10pm to 4am gig at roseland this past summer. tradition has it that the headliner comes on last and plays the longest, right? if you showed up at 1AM, you missed his hour and a half performance and ended up spending $35 to hear sandra collins, who was so bad, oakie had to come on stage to get people to clap for her. last week, he spins at a small club in Florida, pumping up the "bringing the music to the masses" hype. $20 tickets become $28.60 thanks to ticketmaster. he spins for an hour and 20 minutes and then leaves to go spin for another hour and a half in miami where the tickets go for $25 plus surcharges. he's spinning tomorrow night in philly and i have it on some authority that his fee is $20,000 and he'll spin for less than 2 hours. i don't mind handing over my hard-earned money for someone who's gonna work just as hard for me, but it seems like the only thing oakenfold is working hard at lately is dissing his fans. - kestrel
